TranslatorPlus

TranslatorPlus is a client-side Fabric mod that translates your chat messages in real time as you type them, before you send anything. A small overlay appears above the chat input field showing the translated text. Press Tab to replace your message with the translation, then send it normally.

Incoming messages from other players can also be translated automatically, so you can follow conversations in any language without leaving the game.

Features

Live translation overlay The translation updates as you type with a short delay to avoid unnecessary API calls. When using Gemini, the delay is slightly longer to account for AI response times.

Multiple translation backends Six different APIs are supported. You can switch between them at any time from the settings screen.

• Gemini AI - free API key from Google AI Studio
• DeepL - requires a DeepL API key
• LibreTranslate - free, supports self-hosted instances

Automatic fallback If the selected API fails or returns an error, the mod silently retries with the next available free API. No manual intervention required.

Tone rewriting (Gemini only) Prefix your message with a tone keyword to have Gemini rewrite it in a specific style before translating. For example, typing [formal] hey can you help me will produce a formal translation. Supported tones include: professional, formal, casual, friendly, funny, sarcastic, poetic, dramatic, gen-z, medieval, pirate, and more.

Gemini model selection Choose which Gemini model to use directly from the settings screen. A button loads the list of models available for your API key so you can select one without leaving the game.

Detected language indicator When the source language is set to auto-detect, the overlay shows which language was recognized alongside the translation. Each language code is displayed using the colors of its country flag.

Translation cache Translations are cached locally. Identical phrases are not sent to the API again, reducing latency and unnecessary requests.

Incoming message translation When enabled, messages from other players are intercepted and replaced with a translated version. The original text remains visible on hover. This feature uses the same API selected for outgoing messages.

Quick toggle A configurable keybind lets you enable or disable the mod instantly without opening any menu. A short confirmation message appears in the action bar.

Usage

Open the chat and start typing. The translation overlay will appear above the input field automatically. Press Tab to apply the translation to the input field, then press Enter to send it.

Press backslash (\) to open the settings screen, where you can select the translation API, configure source and target languages, enter API keys, and adjust all other options.
