📖 chiseledEnchants
Stop gambling at the enchanting table. Choose exactly what your gear gets.
Vanilla enchanting is a slot machine — spend your levels, cross your fingers, and hope the roll isn't garbage. chiseledEnchants adds a separate, self-contained enchanting path where you decide what lands. Stock chiseled bookshelves with single-enchant books, walk up to the table, and get exactly those enchants. No rerolling. No praying.
And it does it without a single new item or block — so it's server-side only, and vanilla clients can join with no mods and no resource pack. Runs in single-player too.
⚔️ Vanilla vs. chiseledEnchants
| 🎰 Vanilla table | 📖 Chiseled Enchanter | |
|---|---|---|
| Outcome | Random roll | You choose |
| Powered by | Bookshelves (RNG) | Single-enchant books |
| Levels | Whatever it rolls | Always max (Sharpness V, Mending I…) |
| Cheap-book laundering | — | Blocked — only max books count |
| Client mod needed | No | No |
Regular bookshelves around a normal table? 100% untouched — chiseledEnchants doesn't interfere. The new behavior only kicks in at the special table.
✨ How it works
- Craft the "Chiseled Enchanter" — a special enchanting table (dragon head + netherite + obsidian). Its name carries a rarity color a vanilla anvil can't reproduce, so it's genuinely craft-only.
- Ring it with chiseled bookshelves in the usual enchanting-power spots (one-block air gap).
- Stock the shelves with single-enchant books for whatever you want to guarantee.
- Enchant — the table applies the enchants you chose instead of a random roll.
🎯 The rules that keep it fair
- 🔒 Only max-level books count. A book counts only at that enchant's max — Sharpness V, Unbreaking III, Mending I. Below-max books are flagged and ignored, so nothing is averaged: you can only ever replicate a tier you already earned, never launder cheap books into a higher one.
- ✅ 6 max-level books = a 100% guarantee. Fewer books give a proportional chance to land, and everything that lands comes at its max level.
- 💎 One option, real costs. It unlocks for a flat lapis-block cost (default 14 blocks, not gems); XP scales with what you guarantee. Extra lapis beyond the cost protects your books from being consumed — a full stack reaches the cap.
- ⚖️ Conflicts resolve by book count. Sharpness vs. Smite → whoever has more books wins; an equal tie blanks the table on purpose so you can spot it and add a book to break it.
- 🟢 Live status bar. A boss bar above the table shows green = ready or red with the exact reason — mixed shelves, a tie, or a below-max book.
- 💰 Treasure enchants are guarantee-only. Mending, Soul Speed and friends can be targeted here — never from a random roll — behind a per-enchant whitelist and curse/treasure master switches.
Books are sourced the intended way — villager librarian trades.
📖 In-game guide book
Rename a book & quill to chiseledEnchants in an anvil to get a full in-game guide: how the table works, the costs, the status bar, and every command — written from your server's live config, so the numbers always match your actual settings. It's a normal signed book, so it renders fine on a vanilla client.
