Description

Chunk Scanner – What It Does

Chunk Scanner is a client-side Fabric mod that automatically logs signs and QShop stores as you explore. It runs in the background, scans only chunks that are already loaded, and saves everything to a local database so you can look it up later.

What you can do with it:

  • Log signs – normal signs, hanging signs, front and back text. No more scrambling to read before you walk away.
  • Scan QShop shops – pulls owner, buy/sell type, price, stock, and item name from shop signs on chests and barrels.
  • Browse everything in one place – open the built-in GUI (/cs db gui) to view, filter, sort, and export your data. QShop entries can be filtered by price, quantity, or trade mode.
  • Create waypoints instantly – if you use Xaero's minimap, click any coordinate in the browser to drop a waypoint.
  • Run multiple scans at once – scan signs and shops simultaneously; they don't interfere with each other.

Why it won't slow you down:

  • It never forces chunks to load – only scans what's already there, so servers don't take a hit.
  • Scanning runs on background threads with adaptive speed control. Your FPS stays normal.

Getting started:

Two commands are all you need:

/cs task begin sign – scan signs
/cs task begin qshop – scan QShop shops
/cs task gui – open the tasks browser
/cs db gui – open the database browser

If you have Cloth Config and Mod Menu installed, you can tweak scan radius, revisit intervals, and other settings right from the game interface.

Who finds this useful:

  • Traders comparing shop prices
  • Explorers marking sign content along the way
  • Server admins keeping an eye on player shops without extra plugins
  • Anyone who likes having their world's text data organized
