Description

Cinematic Client

Cinematic Client is a client-side cinematic toolkit for Minecraft, built specifically for content creators and YouTubers who want to produce high-quality in-game cinematics — trailers, intros, showcases, promotional videos, and other real-time productions — without needing any external rendering software.

Unlike mods focused on machinima or roleplay series, Cinematic Client is built around one goal: giving you a professional, keyframe-based camera system you can operate with simple chat commands, then capture straight to disk with OBS Studio or any other screen recorder. Everything runs 100% on your client — no one else needs the mod installed, not even the server, so you can record on any server (vanilla or modded) without permission or setup on their end.

Features

  • Freecam — detach the camera completely from your character and fly around freely (WASD + mouse + space/shift, with sprint support) to scout your shots.
  • Waypoint-based cinematic paths — mark as many camera points as you want, in any order, and the mod builds a smooth curved path through all of them (Catmull-Rom spline), not a jerky straight-line path.
  • Continuous, cinematic motion — the camera eases in from rest at the start and eases out to rest at the end, but never comes to a full stop at points in between — it flows through intermediate waypoints, speeding up or slowing down only as much as you configure.
  • Per-segment speed control — set a different speed for every individual leg of the route, so one part of the shot can be slow and dramatic while another is fast.
  • Global playback speed — scale the speed of the entire cinematic up or down with one command.
  • Configurable rotation per waypoint — decide exactly how the camera turns approaching each point: shortest path, forced clockwise/counter-clockwise, forced long way around, a fixed angle, a fixed world coordinate to look at, or a live tracking shot that always faces the player.
  • 5-second pre-roll on playback — when you start a cinematic, the camera immediately snaps into position and waits 5 seconds with a single on-screen notice before moving, giving you time to hit record.
  • Pause and resume mid-playback — freeze a cinematic exactly where it is and continue later from the same spot, with no jump.
  • Player freezing during freecam/playback — your character stays perfectly still (no gravity, no drift) while the camera does its own thing, so nothing looks broken in the shot.
  • No external dependencies for viewers — a true client-side mod; nothing needs to be installed server-side. But only works in client-user.

Commands

All commands start with /cine.

Command Description
/cine start Toggle freecam on (also bindable to a key, F6 by default).
/cine stop Freecam: turns it off. Playback: pauses it in place.
/cine resume Resumes a paused playback from where it left off.
/cine reset Cancels any playback/pause and returns camera control to you. Keeps your waypoints.
/cine addpoint [seconds] Adds a new waypoint at your current position/rotation. Optional: how long (in seconds) the camera takes to travel into this point from the previous one (default 4s).
/cine list Lists all current waypoints with their full configuration.
/cine clear Deletes the entire route.
/cine clear <index> Deletes a single waypoint by its number, keeping the rest.
/cine speed <value> Sets the global playback speed multiplier (e.g. 2.0 = twice as fast).
/cine waypoint-speed <index> <value> Sets the speed multiplier for the segment arriving at a specific waypoint.
/cine direction <index> auto Shortest rotation path into that waypoint (default).
/cine direction <index> cw / ccw Forces the camera to turn clockwise / counter-clockwise into that waypoint.
/cine direction <index> longest Forces the long way around, for slow deliberate turns.
/cine direction <index> face <yaw> <pitch> Forces the camera to a fixed angle approaching that waypoint.
/cine direction <index> look-at <x> <y> <z> Camera tracks a fixed world coordinate while approaching that waypoint.
/cine direction <index> face-player Camera tracks you (the real player) live, even if you move during the shot.
/cine play Starts the cinematic: camera snaps into position instantly, then plays after a 5-second heads-up so you can start recording.

Typical workflow

  1. /cine start — enable freecam and fly to scout your first camera position.
  2. /cine addpoint — lock it in.
  3. Fly to the next position, /cine addpoint 3 — lock it in with a custom travel time.
  4. Repeat for as many points as your shot needs.
  5. Optionally fine-tune with /cine waypoint-speed and /cine direction.
  6. /cine play — hit record in OBS during the 5-second window, and let the mod do the rest.

Intended Use

Cinematic Client is intended for creators who want to capture cinematic Minecraft footage directly inside the game — server trailers, YouTube intros, showcases, promotional content, or any scene that benefits from smooth, directable camera work instead of a static or handheld view.

Future Plans

A future version may introduce an optional synchronized cinematic system, allowing server administrators to trigger cinematics that play simultaneously for every connected player, so everyone experiences the same cinematic sequence together in real time.
