Description

Cinematic - quick usage

Who can use it
Operators only: commands need permission level 2Players only (not the console as a block).

/cinematic move …

Moves the camera (your body stays put) over seconds.

Directions & units

  • up / down - world vertical, blocks
  • left / right - strafe relative to view, blocks
  • front / back - horizontal forward/back along where you look, blocks

Example: /cinematic move up 100 7

Optional turn while moving (same command, after the move part):

/cinematic move <dir> <blocks> <seconds> turn <turnDir> <degrees>

  • Turn uses the same seconds as the move.

/cinematic move <dir> <blocks> <seconds> turn <turnDir> <degrees> <turnSeconds>

  • Move and turn can use different lengths; the shot lasts until the longer one finishes (position can finish first while you keep turning, or the reverse).

Turn directions (turn …)

  • left / right - yaw, degrees
  • up / down - pitch, degrees
  • front - pitch moves toward level (0°), by at most degrees
  • back - yaw moves toward behind you (up to 180°), by at most degrees

Example: /cinematic move up 100 7 turn left 90

/cinematic turn …

Only rotation, same place: /cinematic turn <dir> <degrees> <seconds>
Same dir set as in turn … above (up down left right front back).

/cinemoveto …

/cinemoveto <target> <seconds> no|yes

  • Flies the camera along a path from your eyes to a standoff in front of the target’s eyes (default ~2.5 blocks short of their face).
  • no - path stays in open air with clearance (no cutting through walls; can fail if no route).
  • yesstraight line (can go through blocks).
  • With a valid target, the view tracks the entity; after arrival it holds ~1.4s on target, then fade to blacksnap your view back, fade in.

Game rule

  • cinematicBlackBars (default true) - when false, letterboxing is off; fades and camera behavior stay the same.

What you see / feel during a cinematic

  • Letterbox eases in over 0.2s, then motion (and optional turn) runs.
  • Hand, hotbar, and crosshair hidden; movement and most input blocked; Esc / pause still allowed.
  • Fade out → black → fade in at the end; while fully black, bars are off and the camera is already back to your pre-cinematic eye position and look.

lastly, this mod was made specifically for a modpack I'm working on, however unlike my other mods, it will be maintained for reported bugs (PLEASE BE SPECIFIC ABOUT WHAT THE CRASH WAS ABOUT), and will get more features in the future, feel free to suggest ideas in the comments!
