Description
CleanPeek
A lightweight, text-only container preview. Replaces the cluttered, ungrouped contents preview on shulker boxes and bundles with a clean, grouped, text-only summary — and adds the same summary to chests and barrels, which don't get a preview at all in vanilla.
What is this?
Hover over a shulker box in vanilla Minecraft and you get a raw, unsorted dump of its first few slots — the same item repeated on separate lines if it happens to sit in more than one stack. CleanPeek replaces that with a single grouped list, sorted by quantity, so "3 stacks of dirt" reads as one line: Dirt x192.
No icons, no extra GUI frame, no rendering code — just text appended to the tooltip you already see. 100% client-side: install it on your own game and use it on any server, modded or vanilla, without anyone else needing it.
Features
- Grouped, sorted summary — same item across multiple slots is merged into one line and the list is sorted highest quantity first, so the things you have the most of are what you see first.
- Auto-compression — shows up to 6 lines, then
+ and N more types...if there's more, so a packed box never floods your screen. - Works on shulker boxes, chests, barrels, and bundles — detection is based on the item's actual data shape (does it carry a stored inventory?), not a hardcoded block list, so modded containers that follow the same convention are picked up automatically.
- Bundle support replaces the icon row — vanilla's small icon-grid preview on bundles is removed and replaced with the same text-style summary used everywhere else, for a consistent look.
- Enchantment-aware naming — two enchanted books (or two pieces of enchanted gear) with different enchantments show as separate lines with their enchantments named, e.g.
Enchanted Book (Sharpness V) x1, instead of two identical-looking "Enchanted Book" lines. - Everything else is untouched — plain items, named items, single enchanted items, and Ender Chests (whose inventory isn't stored on the item at all) render exactly like vanilla.
Configuration
None yet — the summary behavior (6-line cap, sort order) is fixed for now. If there's demand for a config screen to adjust it, that can be added later.
Notes
Feedback and bug reports are welcome — this mod is still actively being tested.
