Description

Trash

Trash is a lightweight utility mod that helps you quickly remove unwanted items and keep your inventory clean.

Instead of throwing items on the ground or waiting for them to despawn, open the trash container and permanently dispose of them in just a few clicks. The mod also includes a configurable Auto Trash filter, allowing selected blocks to be automatically removed from your inventory after you pick them up.

Features

  • A convenient trash button inside the player inventory
  • A separate trash interface with 9 disposal slots
  • Instantly deletes items placed into the trash
  • Supports fast item disposal with Shift-click
  • Customizable Auto Trash filter
  • Automatically removes selected unwanted blocks from your inventory
  • Search blocks by their name or identifier
  • Switch between All and Selected filter views
  • Displays the total number of selected filter entries
  • Selected filters are saved between game sessions
  • Configurable keybindings for opening the trash and Auto Trash menu
  • Simple, lightweight, and easy to use

How to Use the Trash

  1. Open your player inventory.
  2. Click the trash-can button near the inventory interface.
  3. Place unwanted items into one of the 9 trash slots.
  4. The items will be permanently deleted.

You can also Shift-click an item from your inventory to dispose of it immediately.

The trash can may also be opened using the Open Trash keybinding. You can change this key in:

Options → Controls → Key Binds → Trash Slot

Auto Trash Filter

Auto Trash is useful when mining, building, farming, or exploring areas where unwanted blocks constantly fill your inventory.

To configure it:

  1. Open Options → Controls → Key Binds.
  2. Find the Trash Slot category.
  3. Assign a key to Configure Auto Trash.
  4. Press that key to open the filter menu.
  5. Click a block to add it to or remove it from the Auto Trash filter.

Once a block is selected, matching stacks will be automatically removed when they enter your inventory.

Selected blocks are visually highlighted in the filter menu.

Searching and Filtering

The Auto Trash menu contains tools for managing large filter lists:

  • Use the search field to find blocks by their displayed name.
  • You can also search using an identifier such as minecraft:cobblestone.
  • Use Filter: All to display every available block.
  • Use Filter: Selected to display only blocks currently marked for automatic deletion.
  • The Selected counter shows how many blocks are included in your filter.
  • Use the mouse wheel to scroll through the list.

Your Auto Trash selections are saved automatically, so you do not need to configure them again after restarting the game.

Example Uses

Auto Trash can automatically remove unwanted blocks such as:

  • Cobblestone collected while mining
  • Dirt and stone collected while clearing terrain
  • Netherrack collected while exploring the Nether
  • Common blocks produced during large building projects
  • Any other block that you do not want filling your inventory

Keybindings

The mod provides two configurable controls:

  • Open Trash — opens the 9-slot trash container
  • Configure Auto Trash — opens the automatic deletion filter

Both controls can be changed from Minecraft's keybinding settings.

Important Warning

Items deleted by Trash cannot be recovered.

Always check an item before placing it into the trash or adding it to the automatic deletion filter.

Compatibility

  • Minecraft: 1.16.5–26.2
  • Mod loaders: Forge and Fabric
  • Works in singleplayer and multiplayer
  • Use the file made for your Minecraft version and mod loader

Fabric versions require Fabric API.

Installation

  1. Install the appropriate version of Forge or Fabric Loader.
  2. Install Fabric API when using the Fabric version.
  3. Download the version of Trash that matches your Minecraft version.
  4. Place the downloaded .jar file into the mods folder.
  5. Launch Minecraft and configure the controls under the Trash Slot keybinding category.

For multiplayer, install the mod on both the client and the server.
