Description
Cobblemon EV Uncapper
What started as a simple mod to lift Cobblemons 510 total EV cap has grown into a full EV training toolkit. You can still use it as a pure cap remover if that is all you want, but everything around the EV system is now configurable, and a polished in-game UI sits on top.
Note: Cobblemon itself is only available on Modrinth (modrinth.com/mod/cobblemon), so it can not be added as a CurseForge dependency. Please install it manually before using this mod.
1.What This Mod Does
In vanilla Cobblemon, your Pokemon are limited to 510 total Effort Values across all stats. The math is brutal: 252 + 252 = 504, leaving only 6 EVs for a third stat. Four of your six stats are forced to stay at zero forever.
This mod removes that total limit. By default you can now invest the full 252 EVs in every single stat, reaching 1512 total. Every stat receives the full +63 stat boost at level 100. Nothing is fake or visual-only. The per-stat 252 cap stays intact by default, so no individual stat exceeds competitive limits, but your Pokemon become roughly 3x stronger overall thanks to full investment across all six stats.
If you want even more freedom, both the total cap (up to 9999) and the per-stat cap (up to 999) are fully configurable, and there is an Unlimited Mode toggle for when you want to throw balance out the window completely.
2.Features
Configurable caps. Total EV cap, per-stat caps, individual on/off toggles for each of the six stats. All adjustable through the in-game config screen.
EV multipliers. A global multiplier and one per stat (1x to 100x) for accelerated training. Stack them for extreme grinds.
Source filters. Toggle EV gains separately for battle drops, vitamins and feathers, and third-party mod sources. Useful for servers that want to allow vitamin training but disable battle EVs, or vice versa.
Action-bar notifications. Every EV gain or cap-reach pops up at the bottom of your screen with the exact stat and value, including a custom sound. No more checking the summary screen every fight to see what changed.
Live look-at HUD. While holding a vitamin, feather, or EV-reducing berry, aim at one of your own Pokemon to see a trainer-card-style overlay with the name, level, type icons, total EV bar, and individual progress bars for all six stats. The bars are tier-colored: red, yellow, green, blue, in the same style Pokemon Showdown uses. Maxed stats get a gold star. The HUD vanishes the instant you stop aiming. Nine position presets and 50-200% scale.
Summary screen overlay. On Cobblemons own Pokemon Summary screen, a total EV counter and a list of maxed stats now appears in the top right. Both individually toggleable.
Polished config GUI. If YACL (YetAnotherConfigLib) is installed, you get tabbed Pokemon-themed config screens with proper popup dropdowns and Cobblemon GUI sounds (hover, click, value-change, tab navigation all use different sounds). Without YACL, the mod falls back to the standard NeoForge config screen and still works fully.
OP-only gameplay rules. Server-side gameplay settings (caps, multipliers, source filters) are locked to operators. Regular players still get the client-side UI tab where they can adjust their own HUD position, sounds, notifications, and other personal preferences.
44 settings total. 30 server-side gameplay rules and 14 client-side UI options.
Save-game safe. Existing Pokemon save data is preserved on install. Uninstalling reverts to the vanilla cap without breaking your world. Compatible with vanilla EV-yielding battles, all six EV-reducing berries (Pomeg, Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, Grepa, Tamato), all six vitamins (Protein, Iron, Calcium, Zinc, Carbos, HP Up), and all seven feathers (Health, Muscle, Resist, Genius, Clever, Swift, Fairy).
3.Use Cases
Custom servers and private worlds where you want stronger Pokemon. Single-player playthroughs against tough trainer fights. Casual mode Pokemon training without painful min-max decisions. PvE-focused gameplay against end-game bosses and modpack challenges.
Perfect for players who want their entire team to reach maximum potential, not just two cherry-picked stats.
4.Installation
For Singleplayer: install NeoForge 21.1 or newer, install Cobblemon 1.7.0 or newer, optionally install YACL 3.6+ for the nicer config GUI. Drop the JAR into your mods folder and launch.
For Servers: stop the server, place the JAR in the server mods folder, restart. Clients can have the mod installed too for the full experience including the look-at HUD and summary overlay, but the mod also works with vanilla clients connecting to a modded server (they just lose the client-side visuals).
5.Dependencies
Required: NeoForge 21.1.0 or newer, Minecraft 1.21.1, Cobblemon 1.7.0 or newer (tested with 1.7.3).
Optional but strongly recommended: YetAnotherConfigLib 3.6+ for the polished config GUI with Pokemon sounds.
6.Configuration
Open the Mods menu, click Cobblemon EV Uncapper, then Config. Two tabs: Gameplay (operators only) and Client UI (everyone). All settings save instantly, no restart required. The default values give a reasonable balanced experience: total cap raised to 1512, per-stat cap stays at 252, all stats can receive EVs, multipliers are 1x, all sources allowed.
