About

Description

Cobblemon: Growing Friends is an unofficial add-on mod to the popular Cobblemon Minecraft mod.

It adds the Mon Seed Core, which can be used to right click certain Pokémon to get their seed. It can then be planted to get more of that Pokémon, growing out of the ground!

Dependency info

  • Required mods: Cobblemon 1.7.x
  • Mods that require Growing Friends: none
  • Recommendations: Complete Cobblemon Collection or similar

General info

  • Usage: Feel free to add it to modpacks, let's plays, etc.
  • Source code: is public to read, but not to edit
  • AI disclosure: Zero AI was used for any of the images (assets and logo), ideas/concepts, patch notes and descriptions. Some code originates from third parties, and usage cannot be confirmed for those, however it is fully put together and controlled by myself. Some AI was used for research (such as understanding Minecraft modding concepts).

Contents

Summary

  • 15 Items
  • 14 growable Pokémon

Mon Seed Core

Crafted with a Diamond, a Vivichoke, a Revive, and a Wheat Seed (by default). This item is the core of the mod (heh). Right click one of the supported Pokémon (list below) to turn it into a seed of its type! Note: it has to be the exact base form, evolutions do not give the seeds (i. e. Hoppip works, Skiploom does not)

Pokémon Seeds

These seeds, such as the Pikachu Seed and the Hoppip Seed, can be planted on normal farmland (like wheat). They grow slowly. If destroyed before maturing, the seed is returned. If fully grown, the Pokémon will spawn! It is not automatically tamed and can be harmed. Shiny chance is higher than usual.

Available Pokémon

Some are not fully implemented in the main Cobblemon mod, missing models, spawns, or other things. There are other add ons that fix this issue - Growing Friends is compatible with those, and in some cases, they are required for the seeds, as they are not available otherwise. New Cobblemon updates can change this at any time. Those are marked with a *

There are 14 Pokémon at the moment, including at least one from every generation.

  • Pikachu
  • Oddish
  • Eevee
  • Hoppip
  • Sunkern
  • Wurmple*
  • Gulpin*
  • Spoink
  • Shinx
  • Sewaddle
  • Skiddo
  • Bounsweet
  • Wooloo
  • Pawmi*

Config

The mod allows you to configure some things via config:

  • Shiny Chance
  • Spawn Level
  • Crop Growth Speed
  • Crop Bone Meal Allowed

FAQ

  • Will you update the mod to [version]? -> I am playing Cobblemon on 1.21.1, and it is also the version for the big AllTheMons modpack, so for now, there are no plans to support other versions.
  • Will you support other modloaders? -> Same reason as above.
  • When will there be an update and what will it add? -> When: Minecraft mods are just a side project for me, with no fixed schedule. Before an update there may be teasers for new contents on Discord or other social media. When it's released, there is an announcement for it. What: new Pokémon crops and new ways to plant them
  • May I change recipes, disable blocks, etc. for a modpack? -> Yes, feel free to use tools/datapacks/mods that allow you to modify such things, for better integration into your modpack/own world!
  • Do I need to start a new world? -> Not at all
  • How does this mod affect performance? -> I don't know exactly, but it shouldn't affect performance more than any other normal mod.
