Description

Construction Wand (Forge 1.12.2)

This is a port of ThetaDev's ConstructionWand (version 2.12, originally for Minecraft 1.20.2) to Forge 1.12.2.

With a Construction Wand you can place multiple blocks at once (up to 1024), extending your build on the side you're facing. You can upgrade your wand with additional cores, allowing you to place blocks behind walls, conjure blocks in mid air or destroy lots of blocks very fast.

Features

  • 4 wands: Stone, Iron, Diamond, Infinity (durability / limits match the original)
  • 3 wand cores: Construction (default), Angel, Destruction
  • Full option system: direction lock, placement direction, replacement, match mode, random mode and core switching, stored per-wand in NBT
  • Undo: hold Sneak + Ctrl and right-click to revert the last operation
  • Block placement preview
  • Options GUI: open with Sneak + Ctrl + Right click (on air)
  • Container support: Shulker boxes and any item with the Forge item-handler capability can supply building blocks
  • Offhand priority: blocks in the offhand are placed first
  • JEI integration (works when JEI for 1.12.2 is installed)
  • Custom stat: "Blocks placed using wand"
  • 9 languages (incl. Chinese)

Extra option (not in the original): Force placement

The options GUI contains an additional toggle "Ignore collisions & force place" (default off). When enabled, the wand can place blocks even where living entities stand:

  • Mobs/animals in the way are removed without dropping loot or XP;
  • Players in the way (including yourself) are pushed up one block instead.

Usage

Action Input
Extend a build Right-click the side of a wall (needs matching blocks in your inventory)
Open options GUI Sneak + Ctrl + Right click (on air)
Change direction lock Ctrl + Mouse wheel
Switch wand core Sneak + Ctrl + Left click (on air)
Undo last operation Sneak + Ctrl + Right click a placed block (green preview boxes)
Install a core Put the core together with the wand in a crafting grid

Config

Config files are generated in the config/ folder:

  • constructionwand-server.cfg — per-wand durability/limits, angel/destruction ranges, creative limit, max range, undo history, similar blocks, tile-entity black/whitelist
  • constructionwand-client.cfg — OPTKEY (default 29 = Left Ctrl, LWJGL2 key codes), Sneak+OPT mode and Sneak+OPT GUI toggles

Differences from the original 2.12

  • Removed: bundle (item does not exist in 1.12.2), lava-proof Infinity Wand (not possible in 1.12.2)
  • Botania integration is implemented via reflection (works with Botania for 1.12.2)
  • Added: "Ignore collisions & force place" option (see above)
  • Items are matched by item id when counting/taking supplies, so modded blocks with metadata/NBT work correctly

Building

Requirements:

  • JDK 17+ (Gradle 8.14.3)
  • JDK 8 toolchain (auto-provisioned, or set org.gradle.java.installations.paths in gradle.properties to a local JDK 8)
./gradlew build

The compiled mod jar is at build/libs/ConstructionWand-1.12.2-1.12.2-2.12.jar. Put it into the mods/ folder of a Forge 1.12.2 installation.
