Description

List of All Changes to the Base Game

Structures & loot

  1. Ancient Cities are ~2x rarer (structure-set spacing 24→34). New chunks only.
  2. Woodland Mansions are ~3x more common (spacing 80→46).
  3. Ancient City chests gain a bonus pool of diamond armor & tools (damaged). Injected, not replaced — compatible with other loot mods.
  4. Recovery Compass is no longer craftable (recipe disabled) and instead appears in Woodland Mansion chests (~33% per chest).
  5. Ancient Explorer Map: master-level cartographers sell a map to the nearest Ancient City (24 emeralds + compass) — only after the Ender Dragon has been defeated in that world.

New items & blocks

  1. Sculk Vial (5 Echo Shards + Glass Bottle): use with 30+ XP levels to seal 30 levels inside; use the full vial to release them. Configurable amount.
  2. Super Powered Rail (crafted with gold — the old powered-rail recipe): pushes minecarts to 16 m/s.

Transportation

  1. Powered Rails are crafted with copper instead of gold.
  2. Minecarts travel at 12 m/s with a passenger (vanilla 8 m/s); 16 m/s on Super Powered Rails. Both configurable.
  3. Horses, donkeys and mules gallop +120% faster while ridden, with a stamina pool (~30 s of full gallop). Exhausted mounts move 30% slower until fully rested (~15 s riderless). Stamina persists through save/load.
  4. Horse armor now has durability (leather 165, gold 165, iron 250, diamond 480) and is enchantable (Protection, Unbreaking, Mending, etc. via anvil/table).
  5. Striders no longer get cold in the Nether — only in the Overworld — making them a real Nether mount.
  6. Boats no longer rocket across ice (capped ~10 m/s on ice). Restore vanilla with /gamerule allowIceBoatSpeed true.
  7. Ice, Packed Ice and Blue Ice evaporate when placed in the Nether — no more Nether ice roads.

Biome diversity (world-creation sliders — LOCKED after creation)

A "Biome Diversity..." button on the Create World screen opens three minimal sliders (0%–200%, default 100%). Higher = biomes differ more, encouraging exploration and multiple bases. Values are written once into the world save and can never be changed afterwards (no command, no setter). Dedicated servers: set defaults in config/jbe.json before first launch. 15. Crops slider — crops grow faster in #jbe:fast_crop_biomes (jungles, plains, rivers) and slower in #jbe:slow_crop_biomes (deserts, badlands, snowy biomes, peaks). 16. Ores slider — mining an ore in its "rich" biomes can drop its loot twice (25% at default, 50% at extreme): iron→mountains, copper→jungles/dripstone, gold→badlands, redstone→deserts/savannas, lapis→snowy, coal→taigas, diamond→oceans. Silk Touch excluded. All biome lists are data-driven tags that packs can edit. 17. Wildlife slider — animals in #jbe:lush_biomes (plains, meadows, cherry groves, jungles) breed faster (cooldown ~62% at default, ~25% at extreme).

Villagers

  1. Librarian enchanted books are biome-locked: each librarian only sells books from its home biome's pool (plains/desert/savanna/jungle/snowy/taiga/swamp — data-driven via #jbe:librarian/* enchantment tags). Collecting every enchantment now requires visiting villages across the world.
  2. Cured zombie villagers sell better books: 60% chance to draw from a premium pool (Mending, Fortune, Silk Touch, Efficiency, Looting…), levels biased toward the maximum, and a 30% emerald discount on book trades (stacking with vanilla cure discounts on other trades).

Interface & input

  1. Coordinates HUD: toggleable XYZ + facing readout in the top-left. Toggle with K (rebindable), the controller Back/Select button, or showCoordinates in config/jbe.json.
  2. Native controller support via GLFW's built-in gamepad API (Xbox/PlayStation/Switch Pro/Steam Deck, no extra drivers): left stick move, right stick camera, A jump, B sneak, X inventory, Y drop, RT attack, LT use, bumpers hotbar, R3 sprint, Start pause; in menus the left stick moves a cursor, A clicks, B closes. Deadzone/sensitivity/invert-Y configurable; toggle with a rebindable key.

Visuals

  1. Built-in "JBE Faithful-Style 32x" resource pack, enabled by default, with 32x textures for all mod content. (The real third-party Faithful 32x pack for vanilla blocks can be installed alongside — we can't legally bundle it.)
