About

Description

CQR is a redesign of Chocolate Quest (though you might know it as better dungeons) for Minecraft 1.12.2, and probably eventually the future.
If Curseforge is currently broken, you can get the latest build from our website by clicking here.

THIS MOD REQUIRES GECKOLIB AND REACHFIX IT WILL NOT LAUNCH UNLESS THEY ARE INSTALLED,* YOU CAN GET THEM HERE: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/geckolibhttps://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/reach-fix

DungeonsFor those new to the mod, BD/CQ generates massive dungeons around your world, such as castles, nether cities, and volcanoes, filled with monsters and loot, for you to conquer... If you're strong enough.

CQR sets itself apart from most other dungeon mods largely in size and scope, with the use of its own custom mobs and loot items, as well as immense customizability, from changing the available loot to making your own entire dungeons from scratch if you're so inclined.

You can find 1.7.10 and earlier builds of the original mod here, as well as its wiki here, and follow along with our slow, slow, development, or apply to help out, in our Discord server, here.

If you have bugs to report, for the best chance of your issue being seen and handled, report it on our Github Issues page and send us the mod's config, your mod list, the crash report and log file if applicable. Fill out as much of the issue template as you can for best results.

If you want to check out other projects that from the various members of our team, you might like Grimoire of Gaia, Pizzacraft, Nothirium, Excalibur's Crate, or Subterranean Switcheroo

If you're looking for certain features of CQ on their own, Lythom developed the Capsule system into its own mod, as Capsule, and Tiviacz1337 made a standalone version of the Cloud Boots as well. There is a mod that redid the 1.6 magic staffs, called Elementary Staffs.  and tjmnkrajyej also made a mod with the Soul Weapons from Chocolate Quest's earlier versions, Soulbound Armory!

If you're looking for a configuration guide on how to configure things; most of it is documented here on the wiki, here: https://wiki.cq-repoured.net/index.php?title=Main_Configuration

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.

If you have any other questions please read the F.A.Q. page on our wiki. If your question still wasn't answered, please, ask us on Github or Discord.

Known Incompatibilities:

Climate Control and Geographicraft can cause infinite freezes. To fix this set cqrepoured.cfg -> advanced -> generationRespectOtherStructures to false. This is a bug in the other program, not ours.
As far as we're aware, CQR works with any and all biome mods, however, if you find one that it doesn't, you should be able to remedy this by asking the other mod's developer to properly categorize their biomes.

On updating to more recent versions of Minecraft

Chocolate Quest Repoured will come to future versions, but not until 1.12.2 is feature-complete. The next few versions fundamentally change a lot about minecraft's identity, and we want to finish a clear vision of what the mod looks like on a build of Minecraft more comparable to the original before we proceed. Additionally, we feel that the current rivalry between forge and fabric will be better resolved if we wait a while longer, giving us a better idea of which one represents the future of modded Minecraft. We appreciate your patience. Comments asking to update won't make the update come any faster.

Towards the end of 2021 we decided that 1.12.2 had received it's last content update and may only receive patches if necessary. Currently we're working on moving the mod to 1.20.1, older versions won't receive any future content updates.

Bisect Hosting, a pretty nice service that will host your minecraft server, asked two different members of our dev team to become partners, and put a banner and affiliate link on this mod page. The problem is, we have separate affiliate links. So, click on https://bisecthosting.com/POTUS2048 to support Arlo with your purchase, or https://bisecthosting.com/toastermods to support DerToaster. Either way, we appreciate it.

Chocolate Quest Repoured is the reawakening of the famous BetterDungeons / ChocolateQuest Mod made by Chocolatin!

To accomplish this task we had to start from the ground up meaning that this is a completely different mod, however it still is heavily inspired by it.
We hope to give you an awesome experience with this, which is a passion project made possible by a few individuals that spend their free time on this.

Below we gave an overview over all the different kinds of dungeons in the main mod you can discover. This however doesn’t cover all of them.
Mighty fortresses
Long ago, the races built large castle like settlements to live there and to defend themselves from the dangers the overworld held for them.
Those strongholds are scattered over the grassy plains and hold quite the reward in them.

Volcanoes
Being gigantic geological structures, full of resources and wealth, they were the best home a dwarf could ever wish for. However, long ago, the dwarven empires were overrun by creatures called Gremlins.
Conquer the volcano, invade the stronghold located inside it and mine all that ore!

Plains of frost and snow
Banished from their home dimension and despised by all the other races and tribes, the walkers had nowhere to go but the icy, cold, uninhabitable plains they call their territory now.
They live in gigantic fortresses constructed by them eons ago during a long forgotten age.

Strongholds
Built by various groups of different races, the hot deserts and icy plains are civilized by rare large underground strongholds.
They seem small measured by the size of their entrances. But beware! Underground lies a large complex of multiple rooms full of treasure and enemies!

Outposts
There are many different races living in the known world. Some of them explore the world like you.
From time to time you can come across a small outpost housing different races from different factions.

The depths of the nether
Hidden in the hot depths of the nether’s lava oceans lie the settlements of the boarmen and the minotaurs.
The boarmen build large grid shaped cities that seem to swim in the lava oceans. The minotaurs however managed to find a way to construct large platforms, hanging from massive chains, to build their houses own.

Pirates!
While most races built mighty fortresses or, like the dwarves, dug out great underground bastions, the pirates decided to not do so. Instead they travel the seas and skies to search for potential victims to raid.
There however is the legend of the pirate’s base, being a small island housing their leader and their treasures.
Some even claim to have seen pirates abducting whole ships with one of their mighty airships.

Overgrown caves
Deep in the jungles and swamps underneath the surface lie large caves. These caves pose a great habitat for gigantic mushrooms and are a suitable home for gremlins and spiders.
Some even say that in rare cases, these cave’s main chamber breaches through the surface.

Mysteries of the known world
Far in the north of the known world lies a large wall. Adventurers, brave enough to travel there, report it is guarded by ghostly warriors wearing black.
They dedicated their lives to guard that wall. They have forgotten since when they guard. They’ve forgotten for who they guard. And they have forgotten why they guard it. It is the task of the brave adventurers to find out.

Now that you know about the dangers awaiting you, are you brave enough to get your best available gear and fight for your death for the sake of treasure and honor?

Small notice: the worldgen in the screenshots is not representative of the end product, you can reproduce them with CQR and biome bundle.

  • Castle in the sky
Castle in the sky I could've made this screenshot look better by waiting for more chunks to load, but I was bored. That's the level of commitment and energy you can expect from my work on this mod.
  • Add your own dungeons!
Add your own dungeons! You can export a structure, fill it with loot and monsters, make it spawn in your world, and even share it with others!
  • A few species of mob, just chillin'
A few species of mob, just chillin' A Golem, an Orc, and a Mandrill, specifically.
  • Another picture of that same cave
Another picture of that same cave Look, I think it's pretty, okay?
  • Armwrestle.jpeg
Armwrestle.jpeg These statues have been here much longer than you have. What could they mean?
  • An Enderman Merchant Near A Castle
An Enderman Merchant Near A Castle Backpack.
  • Turtle! Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah!
Turtle! Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah! Dude, that's a tortoise.
  • Cross-section of a Stronghold
Cross-section of a Stronghold Tons of randomized rooms, won't look like this normally. Occasionally, you'll find a rest room with a healing potion or two, like in the center of this image.
  • A Vegetated Cave
A Vegetated Cave Who can afford to sit here talking about this? I want to explore!
  • Uh-oh
Uh-oh Who built this wall, and what were they hoping to keep out?
  • Tritons
Tritons Squid men talking. They're so majestic.
  • Another Randomized Castle
Another Randomized Castle Why stop at one screenshot when the things look this nice?
  • Randomized Castle
Randomized Castle Some castles are pre-built by our team, this is not one of them. These ones are completely random every time, but look rad as heck all the time.
  • Sky Pirates
Sky Pirates Man, it must have taken some fancy flying to navigate past that slime island from Tinker's Construct and not this mod. Those guys must know something we don't. Maybe that's why they're attacking that Ocean Monument?
  • Chat on the wall
Chat on the wall CQR entities will sometimes talk to eachother if they're not attacking the player. Must get boring, guarding that wall all the time.
