Description
Industrial lighting for Create — lamps, neons, spotlights and rotating beacons that plug straight into Create's kinetics and redstone, with light that actually behaves like light.
Why this mod
Most decorative-light addons give you a block that glows in a sphere, no matter what it's shaped like. Create: Lighting goes further: spotlights and rotating beacons only have a faint glow of their own — their real light appears where the beam lands, and fades with distance. Point a spotlight down a corridor and the corridor lights up. Point it at nothing and it lights up nothing.
What's inside
Lamps
- Industrial Lamp — stands on the floor, hangs from a ceiling, or mounts on a wall bracket.
- Panel Light (12 colours) — a flat light panel for ceilings, walls or floors.
- Bulkhead Lamp (12 colours) — a caged lamp, ship-corridor style.
- Neon Tube (12 colours) — a glowing tube with a soft halo. Right-click with an empty hand to turn it a quarter turn; it follows the direction you're facing when placed on a floor or ceiling.
- Street Lamp (12 colours) — a tall brass lamp post with a glass lantern, for outdoor lighting.
All lamps switch off with a redstone signal (configurable to work the other way round).
Directional lighting
- Spotlight — aim it in any direction with a Wrench. Its light lands on whatever the beam hits, not in a sphere around the block. Mount it on a Mechanical Bearing and the beam turns with the contraption.
- Rotating Beacon (6 colours: white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue) — the mod's centerpiece. Feed it rotation through a shaft and its rotor spins at a speed that follows the RPM. The coloured beams sweep the room and — at reasonable speeds — the light sweeps with them. Spin it too fast and the light settles into a steady glow instead of trying to flicker along.
- Warning Beacon — a small amber lamp that blinks or stays steady (right-click to toggle), perfect for signalling a machine or a production line.
Redstone & control
- Signal Light — a three-state rail/factory signal: red at 0, yellow from 1–7, green from 8–15.
- Light Controller — turns rotation or redstone into a redstone signal, with four modes (pass-through, invert, rotation on/off, speed 0–15). Rotation goes in the back, the signal comes out the front, and it reads redstone on every other side — so it doubles as a relay.
Combine any Rotating Beacon, Panel Light, Bulkhead Lamp, Neon Tube or Street Lamp with a dye in a crafting grid to change its colour.
Ponder support
Every block has a full Ponder tutorial — hold the Ponder key over it (in your inventory, in JEI, or in the world) to see how it works, animated in-game.
Performance
No block in this mod ticks unless it has a reason to. Static lamps update only when a neighbour changes.
The Rotating Beacon and Light Controller only recompute their state when their kinetic speed actually
changes. Directional light is placed as a handful of invisible light points (like vanilla's light
block) rather than lighting a whole area, and a server config lets you cap the number of updates or
turn directional lighting off entirely on busy servers.
Configuration
Server config controls light levels, redstone behaviour, beam range/falloff, and the beacon's sweep speed limits. Client config controls beam rendering and opacity.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge
- Create 6.0.10 or later
Compatibility
This is a self-contained addon: it doesn't modify Create's own blocks or mechanics. Safe to add to an existing Create world.
