Description
Create: Realistic Lighting
Realistic electrical lighting for Minecraft 1.21.1, powered by Create: Power Grid.
Create: Realistic Lighting introduces replaceable light bulbs, industrial lighting fixtures, realistic electrical behavior, and voltage-dependent lighting to the Create ecosystem.
Unlike conventional Minecraft lighting, these fixtures require electricity, consume power based on the installed bulb, and respond to changing electrical conditions.
Current version: 1.0.0 — First Stable Release
Lighting Fixtures
Choose from three functional lighting fixtures:
- Ceiling Light: A square, flush-mounted fixture for overhead illumination.
- Wall Sconce: Wall-mounted lighting for interiors and corridors.
- Industrial Cage Fixture: Industrial-style lighting with a dark gray default appearance. Customize the metal cage and mounting plate using any of Minecraft's 16 dyes.
Each fixture supports replaceable bulbs, electrical connections, and configurable operating modes.
Four Replaceable Bulb Types
| Bulb | Nominal Power | Base Lifespan | Special Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Incandescent | 60 W | 30 Minecraft days | Voltage-dependent dimming |
| Fluorescent | 30 W | 90 Minecraft days | Low-voltage flickering |
| LED | 15 W | 300 Minecraft days | Extended omnidirectional illumination |
| Grow | 45 W | 90 Minecraft days | Accelerates nearby crop growth |
Bulbs have finite lifespans. Their wear persists when removed from fixtures, and electrical conditions can significantly affect how long they last.
Realistic Electrical Behavior
Create: Realistic Lighting uses the native electrical network provided by Create: Power Grid.
- Default nominal operating voltage: 120 V
- Bulb-specific electrical consumption
- Incandescent dimming as voltage decreases
- Low-voltage flickering for fluorescent, LED, and Grow Bulbs
- Accelerated bulb wear under unfavorable electrical conditions
- Overvoltage damage and bulb burnout
- Persistent bulb lifespan tracking
The mod does not use Forge Energy (FE/RF). Create: Power Grid is required.
Extended LED Lighting
LED Bulbs provide extended, omnidirectional illumination with a radius of up to 24 blocks.
Their lighting system provides gradual brightness falloff and accounts for surrounding obstructions.
Fixture Controls and Monitoring
Every fixture includes a GUI with three operating modes:
- On: Operates when a usable bulb and sufficient electrical power are available.
- Off: Keeps the fixture switched off.
- Redstone: Operates when powered and receiving a Redstone signal.
The interface provides electrical information and a color-coded bulb lifespan indicator.
Configuration
The mod includes TOML configuration options for electrical and lighting behavior, including client-side flicker settings.
Configuration changes require restarting Minecraft.
