Description
⚠️ Unofficial port. Not made, endorsed or supported by the original author Krash220. Please do not report problems with this port to the original author. Use the Comments on this CurseForge page or the port's issue tracker: https://github.com/DEHUNTER58711/crosshair-bobbing-unofficial-port/issues
This is an unofficial port of Crosshair Bobbing by Krash220 (GitHub · Modrinth) to Minecraft 26.3 / NeoForge, by DEHunter58711.
What it does
The mod moves the crosshair together with your view bobbing instead of keeping it fixed in the centre. It also adds small crosshair animations. Each one can be switched on or off in the config:
- following view bobbing
- sneaking
- changing the held item
- aiming (bow)
- trident
- crossbow
- eating
- attacking
Settings: open the Mods list → Crosshair Bobbing → Config, or edit config/xbob.json. The config file and option keys are the same as in the original.
What this port changes compared to the original
Based on upstream commit 67608da (Forge 1.20.2 sources). Rebuilt for NeoForge 26.3. Changes you can notice in-game:
- F3 screen: the original stopped the bobbing whenever F3 was open. Now bobbing is only turned off when the crosshair itself is replaced (F3 "3D crosshair" debug entry) or the HUD is hidden (F1).
- Hit animation: the strength now comes from 26.x combat damage, including attack cooldown, critical hits and enchantment bonus, so weak or early hits give a smaller animation. The "crit" spin still happens when damage is above 1, as in the original.
- Blocked hits: the shake animation shows whenever the target is blocking (the shield's direction isn't checked). Targets that are only immune through damage-type or creative rules may still show a hit animation.
- Spear: the new 26.x spear has no special crosshair animation. Only the trident uses the trident animation.
- Nausea / portal effect: follows vanilla 26.3's combined spin, so the portal effect now also warps the crosshair, at the same speed as the screen.
- Hurt tilt: follows vanilla 26.3, including the Damage Tilt accessibility slider, the death tilt and NeoForge
no_flinchdamage types. - Camera Overhaul integration removed: there's no 26.3 version to build against.
- TaCZ integration removed: it existed only in other upstream targets and has no 26.3 build.
Everything else keeps the original's maths, animations and config options.
Technical changes: new NeoForge client-only entry point, crosshair hooked through NeoForge's GUI-layer events, HUD transforms moved to 26.x's 2D matrix, camera/projection, bobbing and nausea code adapted to 26.3's render state, a new attack-detection hook (the Forge attack event no longer exists), and the config screen ported to the new screen API. The full list is in PORTING_NOTES.md in the source repository.
Requirements
- Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 (declared range
[26.3,26.4)) - NeoForge 26.3.0.51-beta or newer
- Java 25 (bundled with the official launcher for 26.3)
- No other mods
Client & server
Client-side by design: the mod's entry point and all of its hooks only load on the game client. On a dedicated server it loads but does nothing (checked with a server start). It adds no content a server would need. Tested: singleplayer on Windows with Minecraft 26.3 and NeoForge. Bobbing and animations work. Not tested yet: multiplayer servers without the mod. Feedback in the comments is welcome.
