[Crow's Lilac] Realistic Cornflowers
No reviews yet
In real life, cornflowers are weeds that grow in grain fields, so I made them have a chance to grow in developing wheat fields as a renewable source.

The Lilac philosophy
This series of mods has two purposes: Reduce the need for farms/trading halls and make the game more fun, all within the bounds of the foundations Mojang has laid in their labor of love. I love this game dearly, but I've optimized/grinded the fun out of it. I wanted to make the resources I enjoy using available by doing the things I already do while also encouraging myself to step outside of my comfort zone.
Realistic Cornflowers and its brick in the arch.
There are two easy ways to get lots of blue dye: Trading with clerics for lapis, and making flower farms. To make a flower farm, you need a bonemeal farm. I don't want to build farms. Redstone is very finnicky... and loud.
One thing I already do quite a lot is grow wheat. My diet consists of bread and fish. Realistic Cornflowers was my attempt to implement a "weed" system in a way that wasn't intrusive or unfun while also not being something you can control. Every time a wheat crop advances stages, it has a 1 in 8 chance to become a cornflower. This means about 9 in every 10 wheat crops will reach maturity, which is more than enough to sustain a person. Just make sure you clean up.
This is also a sneaky way to deal with the slow and inevitable buildup of seeds. A cornflower that replaces your wheat doesn't give you your seeds back, they just kind of disappear. The farmland does stay -- I know the pain of going back and cleaning up dirt after a pillager patrol comes through your base.
