Description

Trader Commands

Trader Commands is a lightweight addon for Custom NPCs that lets Trader NPCs sell command triggers instead of (or in addition to) physical items - and optionally charge real currency via Grand Economy instead of requiring players to hand over physical payment items.

Features

Command-Trigger Items

  • /commanditem <name> <command...> tags your currently held item as a command trigger and renames it
  • When a player buys that item from a Trader NPC, the mod runs the command server-side instead of handing over the item
  • Supports a {player} placeholder, resolved to the buyer's name
  • Commands run silently - no feedback spam to ops or logs, just like normal successful trade

Grand Economy Price Tags (optional - only active if Grand Economy is installed)

  • /tradeprice <name> <price> tags a held item with a currency cost instead of a physical item price
  • Trades are charged directly against the buyer's Grand Economy balance, so currency slots can stay empty
  • Works alongside command-trigger items - a single item can both cost currency and run a command on purchase
  • A live tooltip on priced items shows Sufficient/Insufficient Currency in green or red based on the viewing player's real-time balance

How it works

Trader Commands hooks into Custom NPCs' own trade events, so it layers on top of the vanilla trader GUI without replacing it. Grand Economy is a soft dependency - the mod loads and runs fine without it, with /tradeprice and the balance tooltip simply unavailable until it's present. Clients without Trader Commands installed can still connect to a server running it; they just won't see the currency tooltip.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.12.2
  • Forge 14.23.5.2860 or a compatible newer 1.12.2 build
  • Custom NPCs (required)
  • Grand Economy (optional - enables /tradeprice and the balance tooltip)

Commands

Command Purpose Permission
/commanditem <name|"name with spaces"> <command...> Turn the held item into command trigger 2
/tradeprice <name|"name with spaces"> <price> Set the held item's Grand Economy price 2
