🎬 Cutscene Maker Pro (CMP)
Bring your Minecraft worlds to life with cinematic camera paths and live actor motion capture — 100% Vanilla.
🚀 Why Cutscene Maker Pro?
Every great adventure, puzzle, or RPG map relies on visual storytelling — but asking a player to manually turn their head, relying on basic teleport commands, or forcing them to stop and read walls of sign text ruins the immersion.
Cutscene Maker Pro is built to give mapmakers total control over what players see and experience, without requiring mods or complex external software:
- 🧩 Puzzle Maps: Seamlessly direct player focus to solve mechanics — like sweeping the camera to reveal a newly unlocked door, an activated lever, or a hidden pathway.
- 🗡️ RPGs & Boss Battles: Give your encounters high production value with epic character reveals, dramatic boss entrances, and cinematic phase transitions.
- 📜 Adventure & Story Maps: Set up story-driven cutscenes, introduce custom worlds, and guide player focus exactly where you want it from the perfect point of view.
- 🎥 Guided World Showcases: Frame your builds, scenic vistas, or interactive tours from precise, curated angles.
🌟 Core Capabilities at a Glance
Cutscene Maker Pro combines two powerful tools into one seamless vanilla framework:
🎥 1. Automated Cutscene Creation
Place the camera wherever you want as the starting position of your scene and add waypoints anywhere in your world for the camera to pass through. The datapack automatically calculates the trajectory to the next waypoint and glides the camera smoothly along a linear path.
- Complete Motion Control: Set precise camera speeds or create static, locked shots.
- Director-Level Customization: Fine-tune shot adjustments, screen overlays (like letterbox bars or tints), and scene-start commands directly in-game.
- Infinite Chaining: Create as many cutscenes as you like and chain them together sequentially — just like a real movie director.
🕺 2. Built-in Animation Suite (Motion Capture)
Bring your static worlds and NPCs to life with a full-fledged motion capture system inside vanilla Minecraft!
- Record & Assign: Simply record your player movement, then assign that exact performance to any mob or entity in your world to play once or loop indefinitely.
- Interactive Triggers & Attacks: The capture tool logs your left-clicks during performance. Configure these actions on the target entity to make them swing their mainhand arm or execute custom commands/functions (e.g., opening a door, breaking a block, or summoning spell particles at exact keyframes).
Combining automated camera paths with live mob animations allows you to orchestrate fully synchronized cinematic sequences — bringing your world to life and immersing players in a true movie-like experience.
🛠️ In-Depth Tool Overview
How do you get these tools in-game? Upon entering a world with the datapack active, an interactive chat prompt will offer tool equipping options (when you are ready to publish or ship your completed map, this startup prompt can easily be disabled directly within the same menu). Alternatively, you can run /function equip in chat to obtain cutscene or animation tools!
🎥 Cutscene Tools
1. Camera Start Tool
|
Right-click to place the starting position and viewing angle for your cutscene. The camera spawns an item_display entity that players spectate as it glides along your waypoint path. Each camera generates a unique scene_uid. When placed, it displays a green blocky face particle indicator (helpful if the camera model is hidden via settings) and print its configuration options to chat. Copy the generated play command from the chat menu directly into command blocks or functions to trigger your cutscene!
|
2. Waypoint Spawner Tool
|
Right-click to place markers that define the camera's trajectory. Waypoints inherit the scene's UID while assigning a unique waypoint_id. Since it is hard-linked to a specific scene_uid it can only extend the camera path for its paired scene. Each waypoint can accelerate/decelerate camera speed and fire custom commands upon arrival. Placed waypoints project numbered lightbulb particles (visual indicator caps at 15 due to Minecraft limits, but path length is unlimited!).
|
3. Scene Inspector Tool
|
Hold right-click to reveal all nearby cameras and waypoints. Stand within 3 blocks of an element to reveal blue particle vectors showing exact camera rotation angles and print interactive chat configuration menus with hover tooltips. 💡 Filtering Tip: Working in crowded spaces? Rename this tool in an anvil to a scene_uid (e.g., 123456) to isolate a single scene, or add #waypoint_id (e.g., 123456#2) to target a specific waypoint!
|
4. Scene Finder Tool
|
Right-click to list all created scenes in chat alongside details like Scene Name, UID, Waypoint Count, Total Duration (in ticks), and linked cutscenes. While the Scene Inspector only reveals nearby elements, the Scene Finder scans globally — making it perfect for tracking down scenes if you ever forget where you placed your cameras or waypoints. Includes instant 1-click teleport options to jump directly to any scene across your world! |
5. Scene Deletion Tool
|
Hold right-click to scan nearby scene entities. Stand within 2 blocks to safely delete individual waypoints or wipe an entire scene. Also features a Repair/Reset option to restore misconfigured or broken scene entities back to default settings. 💡 Filtering Tip: Working in crowded spaces? Rename this tool in an anvil to a scene_uid (e.g., 123456) to isolate a single scene, or add #waypoint_id (e.g., 123456#2) to target a specific waypoint!
|
🕺 Motion Capture & Animation Tools
6. Motion Capture Suit Tool
|
Record live player movement, rotations, and left-clicks! Includes performance modifiers to adjust for example player scale, movement speed, or gravity during capture. • 1st Right-Click: Prompts chat to enter a custom animation name / select performance modifiers. • 2nd Right-Click: Starts live recording. Records only while the item is held in your main hand. • 3rd Right-Click: Stops and saves the recording. |
7. Director's Script Tool
|
Right-click while standing next to any mob or NPC to bind a recorded animation to it. Opens a chat menu to configure visual properties (entity scaling, baby variants, player mannequin skins), pre-scene invisibility, and looping options. Any left-clicks captured during motion capturing can trigger custom commands/functions at the recorded tick time. To start an animation, copy the play command directly into your command blocks or functions! |
❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I trigger or start a cutscene during gameplay?
Cutscenes are triggered using generated Minecraft commands:
- Copy the Play Command: Stand near your target camera and hold right-click with the Scene Inspector Tool. Click「🛠」in the chat menu to copy the exact trigger syntax.
- Trigger Options:
- Command Blocks: Paste the command into an impulse or chain command block powered by Redstone (e.g., when a player steps on a pressure plate or opens a door).
- Functions / Datapacks: Include the command directly inside your map's custom logic functions.
- Chat / Console: Operators can run the command directly in chat to test or manually start the scene.
- Targeting Players: You can customize which players view the cutscene by tweaking the target selector in the play command (e.g.,
@a[tag=has_completed_lvl1]).
Is Cutscene Maker Pro fully compatible with multiplayer servers?
Yes! CMP runs server-side on vanilla servers. However, please keep the following server behaviors in mind:
- Simultaneous Scenes: Only one cutscene can play at a time across the entire server.
- Target Audience Control: You don't have to force every online player to watch! You can customize player targets using standard selectors in the play command (e.g.,
@a[tag=level1_completed]). - Required Server Property (
allow-flight): High-speed camera spectator tracking triggered via tick functions can trigger anti-cheat kicks. You must setallow-flight=truein your server'sserver.propertiesfile. - Permissions: Creators need Operator (OP) rights to set up, edit, or configure scenes using the CMP tools. Regular players do not need OP permissions to view completed cutscenes during gameplay.
- Performance & Disconnects: Severe server lag spikes or a player suddenly disconnecting mid-cutscene can cause issues.
How do I create a static shot without any camera movement?
To create a stationary camera angle (a locked, static shot):
- Place the Camera & Waypoints: Place your Camera Start Tool, and then place a Waypoint at the exact same location and rotation without moving. You need at least 2 waypoints total, as cutscenes automatically end upon reaching the final marker.
- Configure Delay Time: Because vanilla Minecraft limits individual waypoint travel times to 59 ticks, you can extend static shot duration by configuring a pause delay on the 1st waypoint (e.g., setting a 100-tick delay keeps the camera stationary for 5 seconds).
- Set Final Travel Speed: Set the waypoint's travel time to
0so the scene finishes cleanly immediately after the pause delay ends.
Can I add or modify waypoints in an existing cutscene?
Yes! You can easily expand and adjust established cutscenes:
- Adding Waypoints: Placing a new waypoint near an existing cutscene will automatically append it to the end of the path as the new final waypoint. (Note: You cannot insert a new waypoint between two existing ones.)
- Deleting Waypoints: If you delete a marker in the middle of a path (e.g., deleting Waypoint #2 from a 10-waypoint scene), CMP automatically re-indexes the remaining waypoints so your camera path stays unbroken.
- Repositioning: Instead of rebuilding a shot, you can freely move or change the rotation of any existing waypoint to fine-tune your camera angles.
I accidentally lost my Waypoint Spawner - how can I add new waypoints to an existing scene?
Don't worry! You can easily recover or trigger waypoints using the Scene Inspector Tool:
- Re-Equip via Menu: Stand within 3 blocks of any camera or waypoint in that scene and right-click with the Scene Inspector Tool. The chat menu will give you a direct option to re-equip the Waypoint Spawner linked to that specific
scene_uid. - Spawn via Chat Command: Alternatively, clicking the place waypoint icon "💡" inside the Scene Inspector's chat menu will instantly spawn a new waypoint at your current location without needing the item tool at all.
Can I change an actor's animation during a scene?
Yes! You can dynamically switch or trigger new animations using command blocks or functions:
- Command Playback: Using The Director's Script, navigate to the "Assign Animation" menu to copy the generated assignment command for that actor.
- Swapping Animations: Simply replace the animation ID in the assignment command to instantly switch the actor to a new recorded motion capture track.
- Important Note: Using this option will override left-click trigger commands assigned to the first animation.
I can't see the Scene Inspector menu in chat when holding right-click. Why?
If the chat menu isn't appearing when you use the Scene Inspector Tool, check these common causes and fixes:
- Distance Check: Make sure you are standing within a 3-block radius of the target camera or waypoint.
- Custom Anvil Filter Active: Check if your Scene Inspector Tool was renamed in an anvil to filter a specific Scene UID or Waypoint ID. Clear its custom name on an anvil to reset it, or run
/function equipin chat to select a fresh tool. - Broken Entity Configuration: Inserting unsupported values (such as double quote characters
"or invalid color names) into commands or text fields can corrupt an entity's setup. Stand near the entity with the Scene Deletion Tool — it will offer an Emergency Reset Tool. This restores default settings while safely preserving your camera's/ waypoint's exact position and rotation!
The scene has ended and I'm still flying in Spectator mode. How do I fix this?
This can occasionally happen on multiplayer servers if a player disconnects or leaves the world while a cutscene is actively running. When the camera completes its path, spectator reset functions only apply to currently online players. If a player remains stuck flying after rejoining:
- Restore Gamemode: An Operator (OP) must manually update the player's gamemode using
/gamemode <survival|adventure|creative> <player>. - Clear Spectator Tag: Check and remove the leftover spectator tracking tag by running:
/tag <player> remove cutscene_spectator
Is Cutscene Maker Pro easy to use without prior command knowledge?
Absolutely! CMP was engineered with a heavy focus on user experience. Instead of requiring you to memorize commands, the entire system is operated through an intuitive, interactive Chat UI:
- Hover Tooltips: Hovering over menu options and settings reveals detailed context cards explaining exact functionality.
- One-Click Execution: Copy trigger commands, jump to coordinates, toggle options, or re-equip tools with a single click inside chat.
- In-Game Guidance: Every tool features built-in chat hints that guide you step-by-step through configuration and troubleshooting.
