No More Dependency Headaches
Ever launched a modpack only to be greeted with something like:
Mod A requires Mod B
Then you have to figure out what Mod B is, which version you need, where to download it, and where to put it.
Dependency Resolver handles that for you.
Instead of:
Crash → Search → Download → Find Mods Folder → Install → Restart
you get:
Detect → Download → Reload → Play
Smart Version Resolution
Dependency Resolver doesn't blindly download the newest version of a dependency.
It checks the requirements of your installed mods and finds a version that actually satisfies them.
For example:
Mod A requires:
Mod B > 1.2.6 and < 1.2.9
Dependency Resolver can determine that Mod B 1.2.8 satisfies those requirements and install the correct version automatically.
If multiple mods require the same dependency, their requirements are combined so a single compatible version can satisfy everyone.
CurseForge + Modrinth
Dependency Resolver searches CurseForge first for a compatible dependency.
If a suitable file cannot be found there, it automatically searches Modrinth.
This means your modpack can use dependencies from both platforms without you needing to worry about where each library is hosted.
For example:
Mod A
→ Mod B from CurseForge
Mod C
→ Mod D from Modrinth
Dependency Resolver handles both.
See Why a Dependency Is Needed
When multiple mods require the same dependency, Dependency Resolver keeps track of all of them.
For example:
Mod B
Required by:
- Mod A
- Mod C
- Mod D
This makes it easy to understand exactly why a dependency is being installed.
Download & Reload
Once a compatible dependency is found, simply click Download.
Dependency Resolver downloads the official mod file and places it directly into the current instance's mods folder.
Once everything is installed, click:
Reload
Minecraft will then continue through its normal loading process with the newly installed dependencies.
You don't have to manually close Minecraft, find your instance folder, or launch the game again.
Multiple Dependencies
Missing several dependencies?
No problem.
Dependency Resolver can resolve and install multiple dependencies before asking you to reload.
For example:
Missing Dependencies
- Mod B — required by Mod A
- Mod D — required by Mod C
- Mod F — required by Mod E
Install All → Reload
Compatibility
Dependency Resolver is designed primarily as a modpack utility and is intended to work alongside large mod collections.
It is especially useful for:
- Large modpacks
- Modpack developers
- Custom instances
- Players installing mods manually
- Modpacks with many mod dependencies
Important
Dependency Resolver downloads third-party mods from CurseForge and Modrinth rather than bundling those mods with Dependency Resolver itself.
The original mod authors and hosting platforms remain the source of the downloaded files.
If a compatible dependency cannot be found automatically, Dependency Resolver will tell you exactly what is missing and what requirements could not be satisfied instead of installing an incorrect version.
The Goal
Modded Minecraft shouldn't require you to be a dependency manager.
Dependency Resolver handles the annoying part so you can get back to playing.
Modpack Use
You are free to include Dependency Resolver in your modpacks, including public and private modpacks, without asking for permission.
No additional permission is required to include this mod in a modpack.
