Description

Dinnerware is an immersive mod about plates. Nothing unnecessary - just plates and your food on them.
When the mod is feature-complete it will forward ported it to 1.21.1 (or maybe 1.21.4?) <- lmao.
The mod is in process of updating…
As well as back-ported to 1.18.2. Yes, really.
Fabric port is looming on the horizon…

Features
Detailed description can be found on the GitHub wiki.
Plates!
Each slot of the plate can hold up to 16 food items (configurable), up to 48 total. The food you place in the plate is rendered on it. The food’s positon changes depending on which slot you place it in and how many slots are filled.

How eating works

Just hover over the food you want to eat and right-click
Plates are generally insta-breakable and will drop the food inside (including piston pushing and explosions).
However, crouch-breaking them will instead "scoop" them up WITH food inside. The food will render on the plate.
Different materials for plates
At the moment, plates can be crafted from 54 different materials, ranging from quartz and wood to diamonds and obsidian. The mod dynamically applies textures to the plates, so if you're playing with a texture pack, don’t worry - your plates won’t stand out from the overall style.

Examples with some popular resource packs:

This mod should work with most resource packs, but there may be exceptions. Keep in mind that some resource packs might just be too weird and won’t look good on your plate 🤷♂️
Configurability
- Number of items per plate slot (1-64);
- Option to enable eating even when the player is not hungry;
- Option to enable placing any item or block on a plate (may not look good);
- Option to make plates fragile (don't walk on them);
- Changing the main slot of the plate between bottom left/bottom right (basically mirroring the plate);
- Changing the way food is eaten from the plate:
- Aiming (default): the food is eaten depending on where and crosshair is aimed;
- Queue: all the food is eaten in the Main dish slot first, then in Side dish slot, then in Extra dish slot;
- Round Robin: each new right-click will take the food from the new slot. Clicks with no food eaten still count;
Future plans
Any of these may or may not be implemented.
- Modded materials for plates;
- Different sizes/types of plates;
- Improve UV mapping for certain types of plates;
- Provide robust [preferably user-driven] system for handling irregular modded food items;
