Don’t Despawn My Precious

A lightweight, tag-based QoL mod that prevents truly precious items from despawning.

This mod protects only a small, carefully chosen set of high-value vanilla items by default.
Everything else is fully opt-in via datapacks — modpack authors stay in control.

✨ What It Does

• Item entities with the preciousprotect:precious tag will not despawn over time
• Only affects natural despawn
• Does not interfere with:
  • Fire, lava, cactus, void
  • Explosions
  • Item pickup, merging, or hoppers

If an item is destroyed by the world, it’s still destroyed.

🏆 Default Protected Items

By default, the tag includes a small set of genuinely painful-to-lose vanilla items, such as:

• Elytra
• Nether Star
• Dragon Egg
• Totem of Undying
• Trident
• Enchanted Golden Apple
• Beacon
• Heart of the Sea
• Wither Skeleton Skull
• Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template

The list is intentionally conservative.

🧩 Modpack Friendly (Datapack-Driven)

This mod is 100% tag-based.

Modpack authors can easily extend protection via datapacks:
