Description
DotDifficulties
DotDifficulties is a customizable Minecraft difficulty and risk/reward system that lets every player choose their own difficulty, even when playing together on the same server.
Instead of forcing an entire server to use one difficulty, DotDifficulties allows each player to choose how much risk they are willing to take. Higher difficulties can make progression harder, but reward brave players with increased stat point gains and better loot opportunities.

Despair is not shown normally and must be discovered.
-
0.01× XP gain
-
0.1× drop luck
-
5× damage taken

One life
-
25× stat points per level
Despair is intended to be an extreme risk/reward choice where progression through normal XP becomes almost nonexistent, while surviving provides an enormous amount of stat progression.
🎲 Difficulty Is Your Choice
DotDifficulties is designed around the idea that difficulty should be a choice, not a restriction.
A group of players can play together while choosing different difficulties for themselves. One player might choose Easy and focus on exploration, while another chooses Nightmare because they want the increased stat progression.
Your difficulty can also interact with other progression systems, such as races, stats, skills, loot, bosses, and future Dot mods.
🧬 Future Integration
DotDifficulties is designed to work as a foundation for larger RPG systems.
Planned or possible integrations include:
-
Race selection and race rarity
-
Loot systems
-
Boss progression
-
Skill systems
-
Custom RPG progression
-
Other Dot mods
-
API-based integrations for mod developers
📌 Important
The current difficulty values are a starting balance and may change as the mod is tested.
The goal is not simply to make higher difficulties harder. Each difficulty should provide its own risk/reward trade-off and offer a different way to experience an RPG modpack.
