About
Description
🧬 DotRaces
DotRaces is a modular RPG race system for Minecraft designed to give players meaningful racial differences without locking them into a specific class or playstyle.
Races are intended to provide small but meaningful advantages that complement the player's build rather than completely determine it.
🧬 Current Races
The current version includes 2 default races:
🧑 Human
A versatile race with balanced characteristics and no extreme specialization.
🧝 Elf
A more specialized race with its own racial bonuses.
The current racial bonuses use vanilla Minecraft attributes, such as:
- ❤️ Additional health
- ⚔️ Additional damage
- Other vanilla attribute-based bonuses
The exact bonuses may be expanded and balanced as development continues.
📊 Optional DotStats Integration
DotRaces has an optional dependency on DotStats.
When DotStats is installed, races can provide additional bonuses that interact directly with the DotStats progression system.
For example, a race may provide:
- 📈 Increased DotStats XP gain
- 💪 Stat-specific multipliers
- Other future interactions with the DotStats system
One current example is a racial bonus that provides 10% increased DotStats XP gain and a 1.1× multiplier to Strength.
This means the same race can have additional depth when used alongside DotStats, while still functioning normally without it.
⚔️ Race ≠ Class
Choosing a race is not intended to lock you into a particular playstyle.
An Elf can become a warrior.
A Human can become a mage.
Your stats, skills, equipment, and future systems will determine how your character develops.
Races simply provide their own characteristics and advantages.
🚧 Still in Development
DotRaces is currently an early/basic release.
Planned development may include:
- More playable races
- More unique racial mechanics
- Additional racial traits
- Better integration with DotStats
- Integration with DotSkills
- Integration with DotTraits
- Integration with future magic systems
- Racial interactions with NPCs and other intelligent races
The current version is primarily focused on establishing the core race system and API.
🔗 DotFox RPG Ecosystem
DotRaces is part of a collection of modular RPG mods:
- DotStats — Character statistics and progression
- DotDifficulty — Difficulty system
- DotSkills — Skills and abilities
- DotRaces — Races and racial bonuses
- DotTraits — Planned permanent traits and curses
- DotMagic — Planned magic system
Each mod is designed to work independently where possible while providing APIs for deeper integration with the rest of the ecosystem.
💬 Feedback
DotRaces is still being developed, so feedback, balance suggestions, and ideas for interesting races are welcome!
The goal isn't simply to make higher-tier races stronger, but to make different races feel unique and worth playing.
