A small Fabric mod that gives the Chiseled Bookshelf a second side. Store books on the front and the back: 12 slots instead of 6.

Features

• 12 book slots: 6 on the front, 6 on the back.
• Works like the vanilla Chiseled Bookshelf: right-click an empty slot with a book to place it, right-click an occupied slot with an empty hand to take it out. Only books are accepted.
• Always drops itself: the double-sided bookshelf drops as an item when broken, no Silk Touch needed. Books stored inside drop too.
• Vanilla bookshelves drop without Silk Touch as well, so you can pick them up with any tool.
• Looks right everywhere: both faces use the vanilla bookshelf textures, in the world, in your inventory and as a dropped item.

How to get one

Use an axe on the back of a vanilla Chiseled Bookshelf. It turns into a Double-Sided Bookshelf, keeping its direction and every book already inside. The axe takes 1 durability damage.

You can also take the item from the creative inventory.

Compatibility

• Minecraft 1.21.11
• Fabric Loader and Fabric API
• Works with Display Information (optional): look at a slot to see the book's tooltip.

Known limitations

• No comparator output or hopper support yet.
• There is no way to convert a Double-Sided Bookshelf back into a vanilla one.
• If you remove the mod, its bookshelves (and the books in them) disappear from the world.
