Duel Monsters Mod

A Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game mod for Minecraft. Duels run on a real implementation of the TCG rules, not a simplified version.

Duel Table

The mod adds a single new block: the Duel Table. Right-click it to start a duel. Duels use the actual turn structure (Draw, Standby, Main Phase 1, Battle, Main Phase 2, End) and Summon types (Normal, Tribute, Special, Flip, Fusion). Spells and Traps use a real chain/priority system, so Quick-Play Spells, Counter Traps, and Trigger Traps interrupt and resolve in the correct order. Life Points work like the real game and end the match at 0.

Crafting: 3 Paper on the top row, 3 Planks on the middle row, and 1 Plank in each bottom corner (leave the bottom middle slot empty). Any wood type works for the planks.

Cards

Card data is built from the real printed text of each card's actual first release, not a paraphrase. The set library currently covers dozens of real TCG products from 2002 to 2005: Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Metal Raiders, Spell Ruler, Pharaoh's Servant, the early Starter and Structure Decks, Tournament Packs, and various promos, with more being added regularly. Cards are checked against official rulings individually, including the harder cases like chain-response negation, continuous effects, once-per-turn restrictions, and equip/target interactions.

AI opponents

Duel against AI-controlled duelists that respond to the actual board state, activating Spells and Traps at sensible times instead of randomly, and playing toward their deck's win condition rather than attacking blindly.

Tournaments and shop

Tournaments run as 32-duelist single-elimination brackets with prize packs that aren't available anywhere else. Duel Points earned from dueling (against AI or other players) can be spent at a daily-rotating Card Shop for booster packs, Structure/Starter Decks, and tin exclusives. Content unlocks across 4 Eras (2002 to 2005), tied to your Duel Level and clearing each era's gate duel.

Deck building

Save multiple deck recipes with side decks, swap your active deck at any time, and track your card collection as it grows. Playmats and card sleeves are available as cosmetics.

No physical cards

Almost everything in this mod runs through UI screens. Cards are not physical items that drop into chests or sit in your inventory. Your collection, decks, and packs are all tracked separately from your inventory, so you will never lose any cards when you die.

Ante Rule

Players can optionally enable the classic Ante Rule before a duel. Each side wagers one spare card (never a card that's currently in your active deck) before the match starts. Win, and you receive a copy of your opponent's anted card in an AI duel, or the actual card in a player versus player duel. Lose, and your anted card leaves your collection in an AI duel, or transfers to your opponent in a player versus player duel. Ante is entirely optional and off by default.

Status

Early alpha. The card library is being built out chronologically, set by set, against official sources. Expect it to keep growing.
