Description
What is this mod?
DynamicWaters brings true, flowing rivers to Minecraft. Water is no longer just a static, flat pool awkwardly shaped like a river - instead, it now flows naturally with visible direction and current, making the world feel significantly more alive and immersive. Main rivers are fed by smaller mountain streams that cascade down from higher elevations, seamlessly connecting into larger river networks to create a realistic, visually cohesive landscape.

_Why does it exist?_
In modern Minecraft versions (1.18+), rivers often feel like long, flat pools with no real movement. Older solutions like the Streams mod existed but are no longer maintained, and large mods like TerraFirmaCraft are too complex if you only want improved water physics. This mod aims to fill that missing gap.
_How does this mod work?_
Unlike standard vanilla generation, Dynamic Waters utilizes a completely custom, heavily optimized region-based generation system designed for maximum performance.
Smart Background Generation: River layouts are generated asynchronously on a dedicated thread pool during the earliest stages of world generation (the NOISE stage). By the time the game actually needs to carve the terrain, the river data is already calculated and cached. This eliminates the dreaded "0% worldgen freeze" and keeps chunk generation lightning fast.
Fractal River Networks: Rivers aren't just one static size. Main rivers form continuous networks that dynamically split into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree branches depending on their width, creating a realistic, interconnected watershed.
River Deltas: Rivers don't always end abruptly. As larger rivers approach the ocean, they can naturally split into multiple distributary channels, forming realistic river deltas. This creates more varied coastlines, wetlands, and natural-looking river mouths instead of a single straight outlet.
River deltas:

Drain-to-Source Mountain Rivers: Smaller streams are generated using an advanced algorithm that works backwards. They begin at parent river junctions (at sea level, Y=62) and intelligently pathfind their way uphill by sampling the terrain's heightmap.

Recommended Performance Mods
For the fastest world generation experience, I recommend using C2ME, ModernFix, and FastNoise. These mods can significantly improve chunk generation performance and reduce world creation times, especially when using large world generation modpacks.
Compatibility (100% Working)
Dynamic Waters is designed to work alongside most modern worldgen mods.
- Note: Mods that restore, replace, or heavily modify vanilla-style rivers may conflict and lead to terrain inconsistencies.
- Note: The mod is most likely compatible with any biome-based world generation mod, as it does not modify biome placement.

Biome & Terrain Mods:
- Regions Unexplored
- Oh The Biomes We've Gone
- Nature’s Spirit
- Continents
- Terralith

Tech & Utilities:
- Create (Water wheels placed in our custom rivers will generate rotational power normally!)
- Sable
- Chunky & other pre-gen mods (fixed in v9.1.0+)
- Physics Mod Pro (Tip: disable flowing water textures in the config for the best look)

Special Compatibilites:
Waves in Wavify follow the natural flow of rivers, moving downstream with the current for a more realistic and immersive water simulation:

FAQ
Q: Does this work on existing worlds?
A: No - you need to create a new world. Since Dynamic Waters modifies world generation, already generated terrain will not regenerate correctly.
Q: Will rivers become more realistic in future versions?
A: Yes - river generation, flow behavior and terrain interaction are planned to become more advanced over time.
Q: Can I include this mod in my modpack?
A: Yes - feel free to include Dynamic Waters in your modpack without any problem. Credit is appreciated, but not required. If possible, linking back to the mod page is always welcome.
