About
Description
Custom Trader adds a single mob: a merchant you place wherever you want, who
will never move again. No random generation, no loot table, no profession to
unlock. You decide everything — what it buys, what it sells, at what price,
what it is called and what it looks like.
TRADES WRITTEN BY HAND
Three slots: what the player gives, an optional second cost, and what they get
back. Drop in an item, adjust the count with a click, confirm. Up to ten trades
per merchant, editable at any time. What you see in the list is exactly what
the merchant will offer: nothing random, no price drifting with reputation, no
stock to restock.
The configuration slots are templates, not a chest — dropping an item in copies
it without taking it. Your items cannot be lost in there.
ANY SKIN YOU WANT
Type a Minecraft username and the merchant wears that account's skin. The
lookup happens server-side and the finished profile ships with the entity, so
everyone sees the same face without installing anything. Slim (Alex) skins are
detected automatically. With no username set, it wears Steve. You can also give
it a name, shown above its head and at the top of its shop.
SCENERY THAT STAYS PUT
The merchant is immobile and immortal. It does not wander, cannot be pushed,
does not drift in water and never despawns. Mobs, fire, lava, a creeper going
off inside the shop: none of it leaves a scratch. Once placed, it is there for
good — which makes it real town, hub or marketplace furniture rather than a
villager you have to lock in a cage.
Removing one takes a deliberate action: shift + left click it, or the Remove
button in its configuration screen, which asks for confirmation. Either way you
get its egg back.
BUILT FOR SERVERS
Only operators can configure a merchant or pick it back up. Regular players
shop and nothing more. Creative mode is deliberately not enough: handing a
player creative does not hand them the server's shops. Every edit is
re-validated server-side on arrival, and items never travel over the network,
so a modified client cannot invent a trade for itself.
Ideal for a hub, an admin shop, a server economy, a quest NPC or a roleplay
merchant.
INSTALLATION
Forge 1.20.1 and nothing else. No dependencies, no required configuration. Drop
in the jar, grab the "Trader" egg from the spawn eggs tab, and you are set.
