Eternal Blizzard World
Eternal Blizzard World transforms the entire Minecraft Overworld into a permanent ice-age climate while preserving the normal Vanilla world generation.
Deserts remain deserts, jungles remain jungles, Badlands remain Badlands — but every biome is affected by the endless cold.
❄ The Entire Overworld Freezes
All 54 Vanilla Overworld biomes keep their original locations and identity while receiving an ice-age climate.
This means you still get:
- Deserts
- Jungles
- Forests
- Plains
- Swamps
- Savannas
- Badlands
- Mountains
- Oceans
- Beaches
- Rivers
- Caves
- And every other Vanilla Overworld biome
The mod does not replace Minecraft's biome distribution with one giant snow biome.
Instead, it freezes the existing world.
🌨 Real Minecraft Snow
Every Overworld biome receives a freezing temperature and precipitation.
Because the mod uses Minecraft's actual biome climate system:
- Rain becomes snow
- Newly generated terrain receives real snow layers
- Exposed water can freeze into ice
- Snow reacts naturally to the terrain
- Minecraft's normal freezing mechanics remain in use
This is not just a visual texture replacement.
The world is genuinely cold according to Minecraft's biome system.
🌍 Vanilla World Generation Preserved
One of the main goals of Eternal Blizzard World is to keep Minecraft's normal exploration intact.
The mod preserves biome-specific features such as:
- Terrain shapes
- Trees
- Plants and flowers
- Surface blocks
- Biome colors
- Mob spawning
- Structures
- Caves
- Ores
- Lakes
- Vegetation
A frozen desert still contains desert terrain, cacti and desert structures.
A frozen jungle still generates as a jungle.
A frozen Badlands biome still retains its distinctive terrain.
You get an ice age without sacrificing the variety of the Vanilla Overworld.
🏔 Works With Normal World Types
Eternal Blizzard World does not introduce a special world type.
You can continue using Minecraft's normal world-generation options, including:
- Default
- Large Biomes
- Amplified
The mod changes the climate of the generated biomes rather than replacing the world generator itself.
🧊 Existing Worlds
The mod can also be added to an existing world.
However, there is an important difference between old and new chunks:
New chunks generate immediately with the full ice-age climate, snow coverage and freezing behavior.
Existing chunks are not regenerated. Snow and ice will instead build up naturally over time when weather conditions allow it.
For the most consistent experience, creating a new world is recommended.
Always create a backup before making major changes to an existing world.
🔥 Nether & End
Only the Overworld is affected.
- The Nether remains unchanged
- The End remains unchanged
The Eternal Blizzard begins when you enter the Overworld.
⚙ Lightweight Worldgen Design
Eternal Blizzard World contains no runtime gameplay systems or Mixins.
The mod primarily modifies Minecraft's data-driven Vanilla biome definitions.
This means it does not constantly run additional world-processing code while you play.
Its purpose is simple:
Keep Vanilla world generation — freeze the climate.
🖥 Multiplayer
Eternal Blizzard World works on dedicated Fabric servers.
For servers:
- Install the mod on the server
- Install Fabric API
- A new world is recommended
- The normal
minecraft:normallevel type can remain unchanged
Players generally do not need Eternal Blizzard World installed on their clients when joining a server that uses it.
⚠ Compatibility
Mods or datapacks that replace the same Vanilla biome definitions may conflict with Eternal Blizzard World.
Depending on load order, another world-generation mod may:
- Override Eternal Blizzard World's climate changes
- Be overridden by Eternal Blizzard World
Mods that do not replace Vanilla biome definitions are less likely to interfere.
📦 Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.11
- Fabric Loader 0.18.2+
- Fabric API
- Java 21
🌨 Eternal Blizzard Series
Eternal Blizzard World is designed to serve as the world-generation foundation for the Eternal Blizzard experience.
For the full survival experience, combine it with:
- Eternal Blizzard Survival — frost, temperature, heat sources and survival mechanics
- Eternal Blizzard Creatures — frozen creatures and hostile winter mobs
- Eternal Blizzard Menu — custom frozen main menu and interface
Each module focuses on a different part of the experience, allowing you to choose how much of Eternal Blizzard you want to use.
