Description
ECHO — the relic
It does not take the object. It takes the echo.
ECHO is a found relic. Use it on the world and it captures an imprint of an enchantment that existed on an item — the item stays; the magic does not. Open the relic later and materialize that imprint onto a book. The echo remains inside ECHO. You can print it again. You pay materials, not XP.
Three relics — Silver, Gold, Diamond — never crafted, never upgraded into each other. You find them in chests.
Use one in your hand to send a pulse. Every enchantment in range becomes one imprint. Sneak and use to open the relic: imprints on the left, your inventory on the right. Dissipate drops an imprint (two clicks: arm, then confirm). Materialize writes the selected imprint onto a book. The imprint stays.
Creative skips the XP pulse. Materials for books are still paid.
The three relics
| Slots | Radius | XP on pulse | What the pulse can read | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | 8 | 4 | 1 level | Items on the ground |
| Gold | 16 | 6 | 2 levels | Items on the ground |
| Diamond | 32 | 8 | 3 levels | Ground, chests, barrels, placed shulkers, and other block inventories |
Gold never opens a chest. Diamond does, on the server, without a client-side open. It will not touch another player's inventory, and it will not crawl into a backpack sitting inside a chest.
The pulse is all-or-nothing. If the relic cannot hold every imprint, or you cannot pay the XP, nothing is taken. Curses are captured. An emptied enchanted book becomes a book.
Materializing a copy
Put an empty book and the reagents in the relic screen.
- I — book + lapis
- II — book + 2 lapis
- III — book + emerald
- IV — book + 2 emeralds
- V+ — book + diamond
- Treasure (Mending and the like) — extra emerald and diamond. Always.
A full inventory cancels the print. Nothing is consumed. The imprint is not spent: the echo is still there.
Where they drop
- Silver — dungeons and mineshafts (rare)
- Gold — desert pyramids, woodland mansions, nether fortresses (very rare)
- Diamond — ancient cities and End cities (exceptional)
Numbers, radius, and creative flags live in the server config. Datapacks can blacklist enchantments or override cost bands.
What it is not
No crafting. No upgrading Silver into Gold. No merging imprints inside the relic. No discount because the relic is fancy. No XP spent or refunded on the book.
Enchantment Workbench can read a relic if both mods are installed. ECHO never depends on the bench.
Compatibility
- Minecraft: 1.21.1
- Mod loader: NeoForge
- Client & Server
- Multiplayer supported
- Standalone — no other mod required
