Description

Your world remembers everything you ever did to it.

Now you can watch.

Stand in your base. Hold up the Chrono Clock. The hands begin to turn backwards.

The walls come apart, not all at once, but stone by stone, in the reverse of the order you laid them, at the pace you actually worked. The floor you poured last week peels away. The tree you felled stands back up. The quarry fills in. The bridge unbuilds itself into the river.

Keep going. Down the valley, the village takes itself to pieces one building at a time, until there is nothing left but the hillside it was raised on.

Let go of the clock. You are in the present again. Nothing has changed.

Nothing ever changed.

You are a witness, not a time traveler!

This is the heart of it.

You never leave the present. You never rewrite anything. The past is something you watch, laid over the world like a memory you can walk through.

So you can stand inside a room that was demolished a month ago and see it whole around you. You cannot open the chest you emptied last winter. You cannot mine a wall that no longer exists.

The past can be visited. It cannot be looted.

That one rule is what makes it feel like memory instead of a cheat.

The world comes back to life

Your builds return in the order you made them. Every wall unbuilds the way it went up. Watch a month of work assemble itself in twenty seconds, or step through it one moment at a time.

The people come back. Villagers stand where they stood. Herds return to the fields they grazed. They drift through the scene as pale, half-transparent ghosts, they do not see you, and they never will.

The light comes back. A torch you tore down years ago lights the room again.

And today steps out of frame. Your armour stands, the wandering mobs, the smoke from a campfire that has not been lit yet, all of it disappears while you are looking backwards.

Rewind past the beginning of your world (Still on work)

Here is where it stops being your history and starts being the world's.

Go back further than the day you created your save, and you reach centuries nobody witnessed. So the world tells you what happened.

Ruins un-ruin themselves. Cracked bricks were whole. Moss was clean stone. The cobwebs were never there. Broken walls close up and the building stands as it was meant to.

Villages have lives. That village was founded about fifty years ago and went up one house at a time over a fortnight. And one night, twenty-five years back, it burned, raiders in the streets, half the roofs gone, fires in the ruins. Rewind one more day and it is whole again, and the people are still living there.

Temples had a people. The jungle temple was not always alone in the trees. Rewind far enough and the canopy is cut back, dwellings stand around the clearing, and there are villagers living in the shadow of the pyramid they built.

Every structure has its own story. Two villages in the same world lived different lives. Come back a year later and yours will tell you exactly the same history it told you the first time.

Simple to use

Craft a Chrono Clock from a clock, an amethyst shard and an echo shard.

[ Rewind — the longer you hold, the faster you fall backwards
] Come forward again
P Play — watch history run forward at the speed it happened
, . Step to the moment before or after something changed
Scroll Grow or shrink how far around you the past reaches

A timeline sits above your hotbar showing exactly where in your world's life you are standing. A sphere of dark glass marks the edge of memory; inside it, the past; outside it, today.

Every world becomes worth revisiting.

Go back to your first dirt hut and watch it become the fortress it is now. Find out what your base looked like before you knew what you were doing. Stand in a village square and watch it burn.

You have spent hundreds of hours making history without ever being able to see it.

Pick up the clock.
