About
Description
Vanilla animal breeding is simple: feed two animals, wait a moment, and a baby appears. EcoBreeder adds genders, castration, breeding tags, and multiple births to make ranch management a little more easy.
Supported animals receive a random gender when they spawn. Normal player-driven breeding requires a valid male and female pair. Adult males can be castrated with shears, while breeding tags allow them to search for a suitable mate automatically.
Features
- Random male and female genders for supported animals
- Castrate adult males by right-clicking them with shears
- Castrated animals cannot breed, but breeding food can still heal them
- Breeding tags make males automatically search for suitable females
- Around a 9% chance of twins and a 1% chance of triplets
- Tamed offspring can inherit their owner
- Horses and donkeys can breed normally to produce mules
- Optional Jade integration for gender, castration, and mate-seeking information
- A nearby animal limit prevents uncontrolled automatic breeding
- Automated breeding triggered by NPCs or other mods is not blocked by strict gender requirements
Chickens support genders and breeding tags, but cannot be castrated with shears.
In-Game Configuration
Press Numpad 1 to open the animal configuration screen. The key can be changed through Minecraft’s normal keybind settings.
EcoBreeder automatically scans for vanilla and modded animals that use food-based breeding. Enable or disable them from the list, or manually enter an entity ID such as:
minecraft:cow
examplemod:animal_name
Saved changes take effect after re-entering the world or restarting the server.
Player Easter Egg
An optional configuration setting allows server operators to use shears on other players when PvP is enabled.
Each player can only be sheared once per life. What drops is best discovered in person.
Compatibility
- Minecraft
1.20.1,1.20.2,1.20.3, and1.20.4 - Forge
- Java 17
- Jade is optional
- Required on both the client and server
