Elytra & Totem Curios

Wear your elytra and your chestplate at the same time. Keep a Totem of Undying ready without holding it.

A rework of Elytra Slot and Charm of Undying in one mod, for Minecraft 26.3, built on Curios.

  • Back slot – Elytra. Glide while still wearing your chestplate. The wings render on your back, over your armor, and hide your cape like a normal elytra.
  • Charm, necklace and ring slots – Totem of Undying. The totem saves you from death straight from the slot, with the usual effects, animation, statistic and advancement. Your hands stay free for a sword, a shield or a torch.
  • The totem hangs on your chest like an amulet, also over a chestplate. Hide it, or the wings, with the Curios visibility toggle.

Press G to open the Curios inventory, or just right-click an elytra (while wearing a chestplate) or a totem to put it in its slot.

Works with other mods

  • Any wings or totem. Items from other mods that let you glide or that save you from death fit in the slots on their own, with no item lists or datapacks.
  • Wings from other mods are drawn on your back too. If a mod draws its own wings, this mod steps aside.

Better than the originals

  • Totem visible over a chestplate. In the original mod the armor hid it.
  • Elytra about to break? While gliding you get a warning and a sound when the slot elytra is nearly broken, so you can land in time.
  • Mending repairs the elytra in the slot.
  • Equip sound when you put the elytra in the slot, like wearing it on your chest.
  • Translated into English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Russian and Simplified Chinese.
  • Options in the NeoForge mods menu:

Behaves like vanilla

  • The elytra in the back slot loses durability while you fly, just like a worn elytra, and stops working when it is about to break.
  • If you also wear an elytra in your chest slot, that one wears out instead. Your slot elytra is not damaged twice.
  • By default a totem held in your hand is used first and the slot totem is your backup.
  • Damage that bypasses totems in vanilla (/kill, the void below the world) also bypasses the slots.

Curios for 26.3 is currently in beta. If something breaks, please check whether it also happens with Curios alone before reporting.

Credits

A rework of Elytra Slot and Charm of Undying by Illusive Soulworks, which stopped at 1.21.x, combined into a single mod. This is an independent implementation for 26.3, not a port of their code.
