Eureka Control Keys

Control Eureka ships with reusable key items instead of opening the helm GUI.

About

Eureka Control Keys is an unofficial utility addon for Eureka! Ships! and Valkyrien Skies.

It adds three reusable key items that allow players to:

• Assemble a ship
• Align an assembled ship
• Disassemble a ship

Each action can be triggered directly from a Eureka ship helm without opening the helm GUI.

This addon was originally created as a workaround for Vivecraft environments where the Eureka helm interface may not appear correctly or may be difficult to operate in VR.

Vivecraft is not required. The keys can also be used in standard non-VR Minecraft.

The addon does not replace Eureka's ship system. It simply provides an alternative way to trigger Eureka's existing ship-control functions.

Features

Assembly Key

Use the Assembly Key on a Eureka ship helm to assemble the connected structure into a ship.

Alignment Key

Use the Alignment Key on the helm of an assembled ship to trigger Eureka's ship alignment function.

Disassembly Key

Use the Disassembly Key on the helm of an assembled ship to disassemble the ship.

Key Properties

All three keys:

• Have no durability
• Are not consumed when used
• Have a maximum stack size of one
• Can be found in the Tools and Utilities creative inventory tab
• Include English and Japanese item names
• Use Eureka's existing ship functions

How to Use

1. Craft or obtain the required control key.
2. Hold the key in your hand.
3. Sneak while looking directly at a Eureka ship helm.
4. Right-click or interact with the helm.
5. The corresponding ship action will be executed by the server.

The key must be used directly on a Eureka ship helm. Using it on another block will not activate a ship function.

Crafting Recipes

All three keys use the following recipe pattern:

Where:

• S = Stone
• R = Redstone Dust
• X = Material that determines the key type

Assembly Key

The center material is a Gold Ingot.

The center material is a Compass.

Known Issue: /vrship Commands

The /vrship commands included in the current version are affected by a known issue and do not function correctly.

Do not rely on these commands for ship operations. Use the three key items directly on the Eureka ship helm instead.

The affected commands include:

/vrship
/vrship help
/vrship keys
/vrship assemble
/vrship align
/vrship disassemble
/vrship locate

The key-based controls are the intended and recommended way to use the current version of the mod.

Minecraft's standard /give command is not affected by this issue.

Requirements

Eureka Control Keys requires:

• Minecraft 1.20.1
• Minecraft Forge 47.x
• Valkyrien Skies
• Eureka! Ships!

Vivecraft is the main reason this addon was created, but it is not required for the key controls to function.

Installation

This mod must be installed on both the client and the server.

1. Install Minecraft Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1.
2. Install Valkyrien Skies.
3. Install Eureka! Ships!
4. Create a complete backup of your world.
5. Place the Eureka Control Keys JAR file in the mods folder.
6. For multiplayer or dedicated servers, install the same mod version on both the client and server.

Do not install multiple versions of Eureka Control Keys at the same time.

Testing the mod in a separate test world before using it in an important world is strongly recommended.

Multiplayer

For multiplayer and dedicated servers:

• The mod must be installed on the server.
• Players connecting to the server must also have the mod installed.
• The client and server should use the same version.
• Ship actions are executed and validated by the server.

Backup and Data Warning

Always create a complete backup of your world before installing, updating, removing, or using this mod.

A bug, crash, incompatibility, interrupted server process, or unexpected interaction with another mod could potentially result in:

• Missing or duplicated blocks
• Damaged ship structures
• Lost items
• World or chunk corruption
• Server crashes
• Other unexpected damage to Minecraft data

Store important backups separately from the active Minecraft world or server folder.
