Description

MOD OVERVIEW:

An unofficial continuation of DarkhaxDev's 'Better Burning' (GNU Lesser General Public License), rewritten from scratch and significantly overhauled. Check out the original if you need a more lightweight version, but the performance difference should be pretty negligible. Major differences are highlighted below in orange.

BETTER FLINT AND STEEL:
Like in the original mod, Flint and Steel can briefly ignite mobs at the cost of durability. It is now activated via right-click instead of attacking, allowing offhand use. This feature can be disabled, and cooldown, durability cost, and burn duration can all be individually configured.

BETTER FIRE SPREAD:
All burning mobs can ignite their target when attacking, a feature vanilla restricts to just zombies. Unlike Better Burning, by default this supports mobs with weapons such as vindicators and accounts for regional difficulty for more vanilla-consistent behavior. Highly configurable and can optionally be applied to players as well.

PROJECTILE FIRE SPREAD:
Better Burning allows burning skeletons to shoot flaming arrows. This mod expands this to support other ranged mobs such as pillagers and illusioners. Also works for non-arrow projectiles, such as tridents, snowballs, splash potions and even evoker fangs. This advanced, highly configurable system should also support modded entities and projectiles.

BURNING IS A PROPER STATUS EFFECT:
A brand new feature that lists burning as a status effect, similar to potion effects such as poison. Functionally it is unchanged and can't be removed using milk, but players can now see the remaining duration. Can be disabled in config.

FIRE RESISTANCE EXTINGUISHES PLAYERS:
Another feature from the original mod, tweaked to only affect players. Players with Fire Resistance no longer still have half their screen obscured by fire. Can be disabled in the config.
