Description
Falling Anvil Crafting
Falling Anvil Crafting introduces a completely new way to craft items in Minecraft: drop an anvil onto ingredients and let the fall itself perform the crafting.
Instead of placing ingredients into a crafting table, recipes are created by placing items beneath a falling anvil. The recipe system can use the height of the fall to determine whether a recipe succeeds, what it produces, and how much it produces.
⚒️ Craft with Falling Anvils
Place the required ingredients on the ground and drop an anvil on top of them.
The mod detects the falling anvil and the items beneath it, matches them against the registered recipes, and produces the configured results when the recipe requirements are met.
The height of the anvil's fall can be an important part of a recipe, allowing simple recipes to require only a short drop while more powerful or unusual recipes can require much greater heights.
📏 Height-Based Recipes
Recipes can define a minimum fall height required for crafting.
Results can also have their own height requirements, allowing a single recipe to produce different outcomes depending on how far the anvil falls.
Recipes can additionally define a maximum height, allowing you to create recipes where dropping the anvil too far can destroy the ingredients instead of producing the intended result.
🎲 Configurable Results
Recipes can have multiple possible results.
Results can be configured with:
-
Minimum and maximum base quantities
-
Minimum required height
-
Maximum height
-
Result quantities based on fall distance
-
Probabilities
-
Weighted random selection
This allows you to create anything from deterministic crafting recipes to highly variable or chance-based processes.
For example, a recipe could produce a small number of items from a short fall while rewarding additional items for every certain number of blocks the anvil falls.
🎯 Probability & Weight Systems
Results can use either probability or weight-based selection, allowing recipes to have different types of randomness.
You can create recipes where:
-
A result has a specific chance of appearing.
-
Several possible results compete against each other using weights.
-
Some results are guaranteed while others are random.
-
Multiple results can be produced from the same recipe.
📦 Ingredient Handling
Recipes can require specific items and quantities.
The mod checks the items underneath the falling anvil and consumes the ingredients used by a successful recipe.
Any ingredients that remain unused can optionally be dropped back into the world through the mod's configuration.
🔨 Modded Anvils
Falling Anvil Crafting is not limited to vanilla anvils.
The mod provides a way to register additional anvil blocks so that anvils added by other mods can participate in the Falling Anvil Crafting system.
This allows modpack creators and other mod developers to integrate their own anvils into the crafting mechanic.
⚙️ Configurable & Data-Driven
Recipes and recipe results are loaded from JSON files, making it possible to define crafting behavior without hardcoding every recipe directly into the mod.
This makes Falling Anvil Crafting suitable for modpacks, addons, and custom gameplay systems.
Recipes can be configured around:
-
Ingredients
-
Required fall height
-
Maximum fall height
-
Result items
-
Result quantities
-
Result probabilities
-
Result weights
-
Height-based additional results
