Description
Farmer's Delight: Contracts & Feasts
Contracts & Feasts is a Farmer's Delight addon that adds food contracts, village order boards, customer requests, recipe-aware rewards, and reputation-based progression.
Accept a contract, prepare the requested food, and deliver it to earn emeralds, experience, and occasional rare rewards. Contract Boards can be placed by players and also generate naturally in villages, turning Farmer's Delight cooking into a repeatable part of village life.
Requires Farmer's Delight.
About
Farmer's Delight gives you dozens of crops, ingredients, tools, and dishes, but many players eventually settle on the same few recipes.
Contracts & Feasts gives the rest of them a purpose.
Place a Contract Board, choose an available food order, cook what the customer requested, and turn it in for a reward.
Contracts can ask for ingredients, snacks, sweets, drinks, complete meals, or complex dishes produced through several stages of Farmer's Delight food preparation.
The system rewards actual cooking effort. A dish that requires cutting, cooking, assembling, and plating is worth more than a simple recipe made from basic ingredients.
Dedicated Contract Board stands also generate naturally near village meeting areas, making food orders part of ordinary village life.
Features
Contract Board
The Contract Board is a placeable, take-only village order board containing up to 18 available contracts at a time.
Offers refresh once per in-game day using a weighted rotation system. Contracts remain available long enough to be considered and completed instead of constantly disappearing or being replaced.
Six customer types
Contracts are divided between six themed customers, each with its own catalog of requested items:
- Village Bakery
- Local Tavern
- Farmers' Market
- Village Kitchen
- Traveling Merchants
- Harvest Feast
Each customer focuses on a different part of Farmer's Delight progression, from common ingredients and simple food orders to valuable late-game feast contracts.
Four rarity tiers
Contracts can appear at four rarity levels:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Special
Rarity is rolled independently from customer type, allowing every customer to offer contracts of different value and difficulty.
A hidden reputation system tracks completed contracts. As your reputation grows, the Contract Board gradually becomes more likely to generate larger and more valuable orders.
Contract Box
Accepted contracts can be delivered without carrying goods to the board in your inventory. Place a Contract Box, fill it with exactly the items the order needs, then seal it with the contract's ticket.
A sealed box can be carried and dropped like any item, and is turned in with a single click at the Contract Board for the same reward as a direct turn-in. It's the default way to deliver a contract, though the classic inventory-based turn-in can still be enabled in the config. Recipe-aware rewards
Recipe-aware rewards
Contract payouts are calculated from each item's real recipe and processing chain rather than assigned as arbitrary fixed values.
The system can account for stages such as:
Raw ingredients → Cutting Board → Cooking Pot → Assembly → Plated dish
Food that requires more ingredients, processing steps, or specialised equipment receives an appropriately higher value.
This allows contracts to reward the actual effort behind Farmer's Delight recipes rather than treating every dish as interchangeable.
Natural village generation
A Contract Board stand can generate as part of the houses in supported villages, placed and oriented by the same generation rules as a regular village house.
Its materials automatically adapt to the village biome. Wooden elements use the appropriate regional wood type, while desert variants can use matching stone materials.
The board becomes part of the village instead of feeling like an unrelated block placed into the world.
Villager activity
Idle villagers may occasionally walk over and inspect the Contract Board.
This behaviour is purely atmospheric and does not interfere with available contracts, player progression, or villager professions.
Addon and datapack support
Contract objectives are built from data tags and Farmer's Delight's semantic food tags, including:
mealssnackssweetsdrinks
Items from compatible Farmer's Delight addons and food mods can therefore appear in contracts without requiring dedicated built-in integration.
Contract catalogs and balance values are data-driven, allowing modpack and datapack authors to expand or adjust the system.
Inspired by Bountiful
The rotating Contract Board was inspired in part by Bountiful.
Contracts & Feasts adapts the bounty-board idea specifically for Farmer's Delight. Contracts request real food items, while rewards are calculated from the complete crafting and cooking chain behind each dish, including ingredients, Cutting Board processing, Cooking Pot recipes, assembly, and plating.
The mod also adds themed customers, contract rarity, reputation progression, and naturally generated Contract Boards in villages.
Balance tooling
Contracts & Feasts includes a headless balance simulation for developers and datapack authors.
./gradlew runBalance
The simulation evaluates every customer type and rarity tier, then prints item worth, contract reward, and distribution statistics.
It can be used to inspect progression, compare reward ranges, and tune custom datapacks built on top of the mod.
