Description

fender8891's Target Dummy

alt text

Stop guessing how hard your weapons hit.

fender8891's Target Dummy is a compact combat-testing mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. Place a reusable dummy, choose what you want to test against, and get immediate health, armor, and damage feedback without chasing mobs around your base.

Three Testing Modes

Immortal Steve

alt text

The classic test dummy has 100 health, stands still, ignores knockback, and restores itself instead of dying. Equip it through its GUI with armor, a main-hand item, and an off-hand item.

Choose a custom loadout or instantly test against complete armor sets:

  • Leather
  • Chainmail
  • Iron
  • Gold
  • Diamond
  • Netherite

Passive Mob Simulation

alt text

Replace Steve with a real selectable vanilla mob. Simulated mobs use their normal vanilla health, armor, collision, gravity, damage handling, and other attributes, but have no AI. Kill one and it automatically respawns for another test.

Available passive mobs:

  • Cow
  • Pig
  • Sheep
  • Chicken
  • Rabbit
  • Wolf
  • Cat
  • Fox
  • Goat
  • Horse
  • Donkey
  • Llama
  • Panda
  • Polar Bear
  • Mooshroom
  • Sniffer
  • Armadillo
  • Turtle
  • Bee

Hostile Mob Simulation

alt text

Hostile simulations work the same way: genuine vanilla mobs and stats, no AI, and automatic respawning.

Available hostile mobs:

  • Zombie
  • Skeleton
  • Creeper
  • Spider
  • Cave Spider
  • Enderman
  • Witch
  • Slime
  • Drowned
  • Husk
  • Stray
  • Pillager
  • Vindicator
  • Evoker
  • Piglin
  • Zombified Piglin
  • Blaze
  • Wither Skeleton
  • Guardian
  • Breeze
  • Bogged

Combat Information Card

alt text

The optional floating information card shows:

  • Current and maximum health
  • A visual health bar
  • Current armor points
  • A visual armor bar
  • Damage from the most recent hit

Toggle the card directly from the dummy GUI.

Easy to Use

  • Place the Target Dummy item in the world.
  • Right-click Steve or the selected simulated mob to open the GUI.
  • Choose Immortal Steve, Passive Mobs, or Hostile Mobs.
  • Select a mob and start testing.
  • Sneak-right-click to pack everything up and recover the Target Dummy and any installed equipment.

Crafting Recipe

alt text

Craft the Target Dummy with:

  • 6 Paper
  • 1 Glass
  • 1 Armor Stand
  • 1 Redstone Block

Compatibility

  • Minecraft 1.21.1
  • NeoForge 21.1.x
  • No other mods required

Whether you are comparing enchantments, balancing a modpack, measuring armor penetration, or simply answering "how hard does this thing hit?", fender8891's Target Dummy gives you a repeatable target without the usual setup hassle.
