Description

Find & Put Away is a client-only quality-of-life mod for Minecraft — available for 1.21.1 (Fabric, NeoForge, Forge) and 26.3 (Fabric, NeoForge).

It remembers the contents of every container you open — chests, double chests, barrels, shulker boxes, and your ender chest — including items nested inside shulker boxes and bundles stored in those containers. The memory is kept locally on your computer, per world or server and per dimension.

What it does

  • Search your storage (B): a search screen lists every remembered item with its total count, how many containers hold it, and how far the nearest one is. Select a result to highlight it.
  • Find the item in your hand (N): highlights every remembered location of the held item and prints the three nearest locations in chat.
  • Highlights: target containers are outlined in gold in the world for 2 minutes or until opened. When a target container is opened, the slots containing the item are highlighted in the GUI.
  • Quick-stack deposit (V): opens each remembered container within 6 blocks in turn and moves matching stacks out of your main inventory into containers that already hold that item. The hotbar is never touched, and damageable gear, food, totems of undying, elytra, shulker boxes, and bundles are never deposited. Press the key again to stop.
  • Clear highlight (Z).
  • Automatic cleanup: remembered containers that have been moved, broken, or emptied are removed from memory.

What it does not do

  • It does not scan containers you have not opened, and it cannot: it is a client-only mod and works on servers that do not have it installed, including vanilla servers and Realms.
  • It does not sort inventories, provide a minimap, or change any game rules.

  • Minecraft 1.21.1 (Java 21) or 26.3 (Java 25)
  • Fabric versions require the Fabric API; NeoForge and Forge versions need only their loader
  • Client-side only; no server installation
