🧬 First Form
First Form gives players a configurable persistent base form using Identity2.
Choose an entity such as minecraft:salmon, and a fresh player enters the world already in that Identity2 form — no visible human-first spawn followed by a morph command.
While First Form remains bound, that base identity persists across later logins and death. Pack progression can explicitly release the binding when the player permanently evolves beyond the starting form.
✨ Features
- Configure the Identity2 form players begin as
- First playable state is already the configured entity
- Persistent per-player base-form binding
- Persists the base form across death and respawn
- Restores the base form on later logins while bound
- Automatically configures Identity2 so no manual death-morph command is required
- Safe validation for invalid or non-living entity IDs
- Bounded retry handling for temporary initialization failures
- Admin/progression commands to inspect, bind, release, or reset First Form state
🧭 A Base Form, Not a One-Time Morph
First Form is designed for packs where the player's starting body is part of their identity or progression.
For example, a campaign can begin the player as a fish. If they die before evolving, they respawn as that fish again instead of silently becoming human. When the story permanently changes them into a human, the pack can release First Form and continue normally.
This makes First Form useful for authored modpacks, origin-style servers, challenge starts, species progression, and other Identity2-based experiences.
💀 Death Persistence
First Form automatically sets Identity2's deathMorphRule to none during launch and saves it to Identity2's config. You do not need to run /identity config set deathMorphRule none manually.
Because this is an Identity2-wide setting, it can also affect the death behavior of other Identity2 morphs in the same installation. First Form also keeps a post-respawn fallback for its bound base form if an administrator later changes Identity2's death rule.
🛠️ Admin / Progression Commands
/firstform status [player]— inspect bound/released/active state/firstform apply [player]— bind and immediately apply the configured First Form/firstform release [player]— stop enforcing the base form on future logins and respawns without changing the player's current form/firstform reset [player]— return the player to fresh First Form initialization state
Commands require operator permission level 2.
⚙️ Configuration
First Form generates config/firstform-common.toml.
Pack authors can configure:
- Whether automatic First Form initialization is enabled
- The Identity2 entity ID used as the base form
- Whether the bound First Form has post-respawn fallback restoration
- Retry delay and maximum retry attempts
The default First Form is minecraft:salmon.
📦 Compatibility
First Form is an addon for Identity2 and requires Identity2 plus its normal dependencies on both client and server.
The initial release targets Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge. Check the Files tab for supported Minecraft and Forge versions.
First Form does not replace Identity2 and does not implement its own morph system. It uses Identity2's own saved morph state, dimensions, attributes, and network synchronization while owning the persistent base-form lifecycle.
