Fox Model Loader: Revival

Fox Model Loader is back.

Fox Model Loader: Revival is a universal custom player model loader for Minecraft, focused on animated player models and traditional server-based multiplayer synchronization.

Fox Model Loader 2.0 continues the development direction of the Sparkle's Morpher 1.x codebase, starting from the architecture used in Sparkle's Morpher 1.2.9.

After that point, development split into two different directions:

• Sparkle's Morpher 2.x moved toward a new multiplayer architecture.
• Fox Model Loader: Revival 2.x continues and develops the previous server-integrated multiplayer model system.

FML Revival is now maintained as an independent project with its own Mod ID:

Features

Custom Player Models

Replace the vanilla Minecraft player model with custom animated models, textures, and appearances.

Players can use their own models while retaining support for movement, actions, equipment, and first-person rendering.

Multiple Model Formats

Fox Model Loader supports multiple custom-model formats and import methods, including supported YSM-compatible models and other model packages supported by the current release.

Animation System

FML includes a complete player animation system with support for:

• Movement animations
• Action animations
• Animation controllers
• Molang expressions
• Custom model actions
• Looping and one-shot animations

Models can respond dynamically to player movement, held items, equipment, actions, and other game states.

Model Sounds

Models may provide custom voice lines and sound effects where supported.

Model Management

Fox Model Loader provides tools for importing, organizing, selecting, and managing custom models.

Supported models can be loaded from local files and compatible model packages.

Server-Based Multiplayer Synchronization

Fox Model Loader: Revival preserves the traditional multiplayer architecture used by the Sparkle's Morpher 1.x development line.

For multiplayer synchronization, FML is installed on both the Minecraft server and participating clients.

The Minecraft server participates directly in synchronizing player model information and model resources.

This approach is intended for players and server administrators who prefer a server-controlled custom-model environment.

Server Administration

Depending on the Minecraft version and FML build, server administrators can control model synchronization and distribution behavior, including restrictions and transfer-related settings.

First-Person Rendering

Fox Model Loader can replace the vanilla first-person arms with model-specific arms and animations, providing a more consistent custom-character experience.

Compatibility

FML contains compatibility work for commonly used rendering, combat, equipment, and gameplay mods.

Compatibility may vary between Minecraft versions, loaders, and individual mod releases.

Why “Revival”?

Fox Model Loader has an unusual development history.

The original Fox Model Loader evolved into Sparkle's Morpher, where development continued throughout the Sparkle's Morpher 1.x generation.

After Sparkle's Morpher 1.2.9, the development goals diverged.

Sparkle's Morpher 2.x adopted a fundamentally different multiplayer direction, while the previous server-integrated architecture remained useful for traditional modded Minecraft servers.

That architecture has therefore been revived under the original Fox Model Loader identity.

The simplified development history is:

Fox Model Loader 1.x → Sparkle's Morpher 1.x → Sparkle's Morpher 1.2.9

From there:

Sparkle's Morpher 1.2.9 → Fox Model Loader: Revival 2.x

and separately:

Sparkle's Morpher 1.2.9 → Sparkle's Morpher 2.x

FML Revival and Sparkle's Morpher 2.x are now independently maintained development lines.

About Fox Model Loader 2.0

Fox Model Loader 2.0 is the beginning of the revived FML development line.

It uses the new Mod ID:

foxmodelloader

It does not reuse the historical FML 1.x YSM-derived Mod ID or the Sparkle's Morpher Mod ID.

This is also the first official Fox Model Loader release published on CurseForge.

Historical FML releases are not being re-uploaded here.

Upstream and Credits

Fox Model Loader has historical and technical roots in the OpenYSM ecosystem.

The project also continued through the Sparkle's Morpher 1.x development period before the current FML Revival branch was established.
