About 📖
Geophilic Reforged is a data-based mod that subtly improves vanilla and modded Overworld biomes! The main inspiration comes from scrapped illustrations for what was supposed to be the Wild Update — this is essentially a collection of small improvements without any new blocks, items, or even biomes.
It is a different edition of Geophilic meant to be compatible with all biomes, vanilla and modded, in some way or another, but with primary focus on harmony with Biomes O' Plenty.
Here's a short overview of the changes Geophilic Reforged makes:
- Some vanilla trees, such as oak, spruce, and birch, grow taller
- Tree stumps and fallen trees appear in a plethora of different wooded biomes
- Moss grows in deciduous and coniferous forests on logs, rocks and podzol
- Small bushes grow in some forests, plain and plateau biomes
- Boulders (known in Minecraft as forest rocks) of different kinds are now commonplace
- Patches of podzol, coarse dirt, stone, or other blocks, can be found in certain biomes
- Grass is much denser practically everywhere, with density depending on biome type
- Certain biomes or biome types include special features unique to them!
See pictures — a picture is worth at least two words, maybe even more! Especially in this case, since, frankly, not that many changes are even necessary to make biomes that much better.
If you don't play with biome mods, use classic Geophilic, but you can use this instead if you want. Both work, although they are a bit different. Up to you :)
I hope you like it!
Technical details 📋
⚠ This mod is not intended to be used alongside classic Geophilic. Please remove Geophilic before using this mod. Your world will not get corrupted, but make a backup anyway!
⚠ Requires the Forge mod-loader, even when used as a data pack. It won't work in vanilla.
Due to the nature of this mod (and my lack of knowledge of Java as well as of time to learn it, but shhh), features that require new blocks added by mods (think modded fallen trees needing a modded log) might not be present. That said, it might not be that big a deal, since features like rocks and vegetation will be added nonetheless. If it looks like a mod isn't supported, make sure the mod tags its biomes correctly.
Still in development. New versions might differ. Won't break your save, though. Or will it? 🤨
Supported mods 📁
These are some biome mods that this mod works best with:
- Biomes O' Plenty
- Windswept
- Traverse Reforged
Please don't ask whether or not this mod is compatible with some other biome mod, it most likely is.
This mod doesn't change biome colours. If that's something you're looking for, use Quark's Greener Grass feature, which allows full customization of all natural colours and works really well.
