GIF Icon Loader:

Enhances the Mod Menu by displaying animated GIF icons for installed mods.

This a Client Side mod that allows for mods to animate their icons if they're GIF format (pack.gif).

CAN I USE IT FOR OTHER MODS?

The main reason for making this mod is for next second type of versions for my mods that include GIF format as their icon, while it could also make other mods render their icon with 2 conditions:

  • To have a "pack.gif" file inside the desired mod.
  • To register the "pack.gif" inside "fabric.mod.json" file like this example below:
},                                                             },
           "license": "MIT",                                       "license": "MIT",
    "icon": "pack.png", <==== from this, to this ====> "icon": "pack.gif",
    "environment": "client",                                "environment": "client",
    ...

More Details:

".gif" files:

Aka Graphics Interchange Format, is a playing of quick sequence of 256 colors image frames in a continuous loop without audio.

"pack.png" file:

It is a (optionnal) image that represnts the mod and located inside it.

for "pack.png" to be shown/visible in Mod Menu, the mod must containe a "pack.png" image with resolution between 16x16<=====>256x256 pixels (recommended, but could go higher with more lag) and the "pack.png" must be registered inside "fabric.mod.json" file like shown above.

Can ".gif" display in Mod Menu normally?

NO, Even if it's a square ".gif" file or Even if you rename the "example.gif" part to "example.png" it still won't show the GIF or 1 frame of it but invalide image like this Unknown

How to use ".gif" for my own or other mods?

Follow these steps in order to make your/other mod's icon shows a ".gif" format:

  • name the "example.gif" that you want to use for your mod to "pack.gif"

  • make sure that it's a square resolution <=256x256 (recommended, go higher if you can)

  • put it inside the "example.jar" mod using WinRAR or other zip/jar viewr

  • open "fabric.mod.json" file and register the GIF by renaming "pack.png" to "pack.gif"

  • install the GIF Icon Loader mod

  • launch the game and see the cool GIF icon of your mod.
