Description

Global Difficulty

Dynamic and individual difficulty for NeoForge 1.21.1. Each player has their own Era and Threat meter: the further you progress, the more dangerous the world around you becomes. To defend yourself, you have protective Monoliths and hearts that increase your maximum health.

⚔️ Eras and Threat

  • Three Eras per player. You advance to Era 2 by entering the Nether, defeating the Wither, or the Elder Guardian, and to Era 3 by entering the End or defeating the Dragon. Mobs become more lethal with each Era.

  • Threat Meter (0–100%) visible on the HUD. It increases over time, with passing days, staying still in one area, and exploring dangerous structures (fortresses, ancient cities, mansions, trial chambers, and more).

  • Alphas: Mini-bosses with special abilities that spawn when Threat is high. Defeating them lowers your Threat and drops valuable loot.

  • Hordes by day and night, mobs with enchanted armor and potion effects, zombies that ignore sunlight, and more dangerous creepers in advanced Eras.

  • Newbie Protection: Damage from mobs of an Era higher than yours is reduced.

  • Alpha Bane: Enchantment that deals extra damage to Alphas and ignores their armor.

  • Mobs can gain extra health equivalent to the nearby player's red hearts (configurable).

🗿 Monolith

A block that prevents hostile mobs from spawning in its area and also damages them while they are inside.

  • 5 upgrade levels that are increased by right-clicking while holding materials. The area grows with each level (from 1 chunk up to 13x13 by default).

  • Shift + right-click (empty hands) displays the outline of the protected area for a few seconds.

  • Damage ignores mob armor. Mobs killed by the monolith do not drop loot or XP and do not lower Threat, to prevent exploitation.

  • The Wither and Dragon do not take damage from the monolith.

  • Materials, range, and damage of each level are configurable from the admin panel.

  • JourneyMap Compatible: Protected areas appear on the full map and minimap for all server players.

❤️ Hearts

All hearts are edible, and each color has its own limit:

Heart Effect Limit
💔 Broken Base ingredient for all heart recipes. Dropped by Alphas and craftable —
❤️ Red +1 permanent maximum health heart 20
💜 Purple +1 permanent maximum health heart 15
💚 Green +1 permanent maximum health heart 10
🖤 Black −1 maximum health heart Never below 2 hearts
💛 Yellow Max hunger and saturation, Regeneration II, and 10 absorption hearts —

You can get up to 45 extra hearts. All recipes use at least 2 broken hearts.

🕯️ Appeasement Incense

Using it randomly reduces your Threat by 2% to 5%. It is also dropped by Alphas.
