Description
glTF RENDERER API
Fast glTF rendering for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1
Bring glTF Models Into Minecraft
glTF Renderer API is a library for client-side rendering that enables Forge mods to load and show glTF 2.0 models within Minecraft with integrations for blocks, block entities, entities, items, armor, particles, and GUI previews.
The API accepts both .gltf and .glb files, including embedded resources, assets from external resource packs, materials, transparency, skeletal animations, skins, morph targets, multiple scenes, and GPU instancing.
Compressed AssetsSupport is provided for Draco and Meshopt compression as well as for KTX2/BasisU textures. KTX2 textures automatically choose an appropriate GPU format and include fallback options for unsupported hardware or failed transcoding. The native dependencies are bundled and isolated to reduce conflicts with other mods. |
Performance FocusedModels use reusable GPU buffers, compatible batch submission, model bounds, frustum culling, distance-based LOD selection, and transparent geometry sorting. Resource and decoded-buffer limits also guard the client against malformed or excessively large assets. |
Embeddium and Oculus Support
The renderer supports Embeddium and is compatible with Oculus/Iris shader and shadow passes, allowing models to take part in shader-pack lighting and shadows while remaining compatible when shaders are turned off.
Made for Mod Developers
The public API includes helpers for:
- Entities and block entities
- Static baked blocks and items
- Custom item renderers
- Armor layers
- Particles
- GUI-only model previews
- Animation and scene selection
- Frustum culling and LOD groups
- Batched model rendering
The public rendering API is on the client side and must only be used by client-only code.
Test Content
The mod includes a test model with a static glTF model to demonstrate that the renderer is functioning. These are testing examples and are not necessary when another mod uses the API.
Beta Release
This is the initial public beta. Bugs, unusual model behaviour, performance problems, and compatibility issues might still occur.
