DISCLOSURE
THIS MOD WAS GENERATED WITH CLAUDE AI. Opus 5.5 for anyone curious. I take no credit for any of the code written.
The thumbnail for this mod is a painting I drew myself with the mod Joy of Painting. I would rather upload my own work than generate some AI "art". The humanities are important!
Description:
This mod does one thing: it fixes Mojang capes disappearing with GregTech CEu Modern when the player is drawn before the cape finishes downloading (GregTech-Modern issue #3866).
This issue occurs most commonly when loading into a Minecraft world with shaders enabled, or loading in while in third person.
Tested with:
GTCEu v7.5.3 (1.20.1)
Complementary Shaders + EP (r5.9.3 + 1.10.5) and TerraFirmaGreg-Shaders (3.1.7)
Monifactory (1.13.8) and TerraFirmaGreg-Modern (0.13.10) modpacks
Explanation of the cause:
GTCEu's cape handler caches each player's "default" (vanilla/Mojang) cape the first time the player is rendered, and never refreshes that cache. Vanilla loads cape textures asynchronously, so if the first render happens before the download finishes, GTCEu caches null and then overwrites the real cape with null on every frame for the rest of the game session.
Shaderpacks with a shadow map render the player into the shadow map from the very first frame after joining, even in first person. That is what makes the first render early enough to lose the race. Embeddium is not involved; it is only present because Oculus requires it.
