About

Description

Highlight attacking Mobs aka. 🎯 Target Outlines by Karl Karlmann

A lightweight utility mod that highlights hostile mobs currently targeting you.

Whenever a mob selects you as its active attack target, it receives a red outline, making it immediately obvious which enemies are actually focused on you.

No gameplay changes. No extra HUD elements. Just a clean visual indicator when combat gets hectic.

✨ Features

  • Highlights hostile mobs targeting you with a red outline.
  • Optional wall rendering through blocks (configurable).
  • Uses Minecraft's native outline rendering for smooth, stable visuals.
  • Compatible with animation mods such as Epic Fight and other custom entity renderers.
  • Works well alongside stealth and combat overhaul mods.

⚙️ Configuration

The mod includes a simple config option:

  • seeThroughWalls (default: true)
When enabled, outlined mobs remain visible through walls. Disable it if you only want to see targets that are currently in your line of sight.

🤝 Optional Stealth Integration

If Stealth by KarlKarlmann is installed, Target Outlines automatically enables additional visual feedback for mob awareness.

  • Mobs investigating suspicious sounds display a small ? particle.
  • Fully alerted mobs searching for you display a ! particle.
  • Once a mob actively attacks you, only the red outline remains to keep the visuals clean and uncluttered.

This integration is entirely optional and is only enabled when Stealth is present.

🌐 Multiplayer Support

Target Outlines works in both singleplayer and multiplayer.

The server determines which mobs are actually targeting each player and synchronizes only that information to the client. This keeps the highlighting accurate and prevents clients from arbitrarily outlining entities.

⚡ Performance

Target Outlines is designed to have virtually no performance impact.

Unlike many highlighting mods, it does not constantly scan nearby entities every tick. Instead, the server only synchronizes updates when a mob actually changes its attack target, keeping CPU usage and network traffic extremely low—even on busy servers.
