About

Description

Hominid - noun - A primate of a family that includes humans.

Hominid is a mod featuring the long gone humans of the Minecraft world.

These new monsters bring some variation to combat and can make certain biomes more challenging, as generic mobs are replaced with variants that better fit their environment. Hominid's mobs vary in rarity and behaviour, which means they can each provide different threats and encounters.

Content Info:

Mobs:

Mellified - passive

adjective - Preserved or saturated in honey, often referring to an ancient practice of embalming or medicinal preparation.

The Mellified been covered in honey for so long that it hasn't decomposed and is quite well preserved. When hit, honey will splatter from the Mellified’s skin and apply the new “Honeyed” effect to any nearby enemy, which causes health regeneration while also disabling any negative status effects. They may follow players but won't actually attack them. The Mellified spawns in the following biomes:

Meadow

Cherry Grove

Flower Forest

Birch Forest

Old Growth Birch Forest

Incendiary - hostile

adjective - Designed to cause fires.

The Incendiary is a dangerous new zombie that carries around a gasoline tank. When it spots you it will catch fire, running much faster to deal high damage hits that set you alight. The Incendiary spawns in the following biomes:

Taiga

Snowy taiga

Old growth Spruce Taiga

Old growth Pine taiga

Windswept Hills

Grove

Famished - hostile

adjective - Very hungry.

The Famished is a thin mob that spawns in barren environments with very little food. They will instantly eat any animal they see (this includes horses, which they will first turn into zombie horses, then skeleton horses). Upon seeing an animal or a player holding meat, the Famished will start aggressively chasing it until it has been devoured (Famished cannot eat tamed animals). The Famished spawns in the following biomes:

Dripstone Caves

Stony Peaks

Jagged Peaks

Frozen Peaks

Snowy Slopes

Snowy Slopes

Snowy Plains

Ice Spikes

Windswept Hills

Desert

Badlands

Juggernaut - hostile

noun - An unstoppable and overwhelming force.

The Juggernaut's sturdy armor deflects projectiles, and their powerful fists deal heavy damage and knockback. Make use of your speed advantage to not get cornered! The Juggernaut sometimes replaces standard zombies in all biomes.

Fossilized - hostile

adjective - Preserved in a hardened form over time, typically through mineralization, as a remnant of a past organism or structure.

The Fossilized is a mineralized imprint of a skeleton. It appears to have taken its mannerisms as it throws rock slabs like frisbees at players, dealing very high damage. Fossilised can be brushed for the special "Remains" armor trim, resembling a skeleton once applied on armor. The Fossilized spawns rarely in the following biomes:

Desert

Swamp

Mangrove Swamp

Dripstone Caves

Lush Caves

Badlands

Eroded Badlands

Wooded Badlands

Vampire - neutral

noun - A corpse that rises nightly from its grave to drink the blood of the living.

The Vampire is an unusual threat that should be avoided if possible. Players will be alerted of a vampire's presence, due to the fact that they inflict the new "Paranoia" effect in their vicinity. While they are very dangerous, they won't attack players on sight and will only be hostile towards a mob or player that has taken damage (try to use this to your advantage and have the vampire kill other mobs). Even if a vampire isn't hostile, they will still stalk players from a distance and wait patiently for them to be hit. Due to their lack of skin, vampires are incredibly weak to sunlight and will be killed immediately upon contact with it. The Vampire spawns in the following biomes:

Dark Forest

Bellman - neutral

noun - A person who carries or rings a bell.

The Bellman is highly dangerous as it can summon other mobs to fight for it. While it will not directly attack players, it will approach them and ring its bell. This causes three random zombies/skeletons/similar human mobs to spawn around it. Mobs spawned by Bellmen will not drop any items. The Bellman sometimes replaces standard zombies in all biomes.

Items:

Gasoline Tank - Obtained by killing Incendiaries, can be used as a reusable fuel source with 3 uses, each use smelting 32 items.

Hematoma Music Disc - Obtained by making an Vampire Kill a Creeper.

Remains Armor Trim - Obtained by brushing a Fossilized, makes armor have a skeletal imprint.

Famished Stomach - An item that applies the Endurance effect when eaten.

Effects:

Honeyed - Applied to enemies by hitting a nearby Mellified, regenates health and negates any negative effects while active.

Paranoia - Applied by eating rotten flesh or being in the vicinity of a Vampire, the effect will play various sounds. If applied by a Vampire, it will not stop until the Vampire has left the area or has been killed.

Endurance - Applied by eating a famished stomach, fully negates the Hunger effect while active, allowing players to eat rotten flesh safely.

Achievements:

How Hungry...? - "Attack and kill a Famished"

Dracula Flow - "Get a Vampire to kill a Creeper for a special reward"

Incredible Gasoline - "Acquire a Gasoline tank, which can be used as a reusable fuel source"

Return the slab - "Brush a Fossilized Skeleton to take a piece of its body"

Extra Features:

Hominid comes with retextures for the vanilla undead mobs. The new zombie texture is important in particular, as all of the "standard" zombie variants (such as the Juggernaut and Bellman) share the same colour palette as a common theme. It is highly recommended that the built-in resource pack is enabled.
