Description
Hydrological is a worldgen mod that entirely overhauls the overworld with new implementations of vanilla biomes and unique terrain.
This mod is currently in Beta, expect issues such as some vanilla biomes not yet being implemented & non-default world presets not being functional yet.
Features
- Recreations of vanilla biomes.
- New terrain made from scratch, including continents (dont use the continental mod).
- Unique ore generation. (Copper/Gold veins along the walls in Dripstone Caves, Iron/Coal veins along the walls in Lush Caves, Redstone spikes sticking out of lava aquifers, Diamond/Magma shafts above the bedrock in non-Deep Dark caves, and Lapis/Packed Ice shafts above the bedrock in Deep Dark caves)
- Dozens of new tree types that are generated in a way that guarantees they never clip into other trees (except in the Dark Forest biome obviously) for easier and cleaner deforestation, plus they're all growable with saplings. (read the tooltip on sapling items in-game to see how to grow them)
- New world presets such as Floating Islands or Floating Caves. (Only on Neoforge / 1.21+)
- Fireflies that spawn at night around tall grass.
- Vanilla-ish custom blocks such as leaf piles, mushroom block slabs, wood walls, dry grass, etc. (toggleable)
- A few blocks now emit light, such as blue ice.
- Custom temperature-based fog. (toggleable)
Configuration
The mod is mostly data-driven (meaning you can change most things via datapack), however there is also a client and common config.
Common Config Options Explained:
- Server Sided Only Mode: Set to false by default, if enabled this setting will prevent any blocks added by this mod from being added. This allows the mod to run even when only installed on the server, meaning vanilla clients can play on servers with this mod installed.
- Cubical Terrain Scale: Default scale is 1, with higher values making the terrain generate as bigger and bigger cubes. For example, setting this value to 2 will cause all terrain to be rounded to 2x2x2 cubes during generation.
- Remove Collision From Snow Layers: Set to true by default, this setting will make snow layers have no collision and behave similarly to powdered snow. Fun with some of the thick snow layers found in this mod.
- Noise Scale: The most insane setting of all, this one will multiply the scale of all the terrain noises. Higher values lead to more compact terrain, while lower values lead to more expansive terrain. Ex. Changing the setting from the default value of 1 to a value of 2 will cause mountains to generate twice as close together, beaches to be narrower, and cliffs to be steeper. Changing the value to 0.5 will cause moutains to generate much further apart, cause cliffs to more gradual slopes, and cause beaches to be wider.
- Add Light Emission To Vanilla Blocks: Set to true by default, disable this setting if you want to prevent the mod from adding lght emission to blocks such as tall grass (for the fireflies), magma blocks, blue ice, and a few more.
Client Config Options Explained:
- Custom Overworld Fog: Also set to true by default, this setting will add more fog to the overworld, and the fog will be tinted based on how warm or cold it is.
- Fireflies: This setting is set to true by default and spawns firefly particles around tall grass at night.
