Description
Whether you're using Ice & Fire Community Edition or the original, make sure you are using the matching version of this mod!!
This mod allows dragons to render emissive "glow" textures. These textures can vary with the dragon's variant, stage, and sex, as well as whether or not it is asleep. If a certain combination has no file provided, it will not render a glow.
This mod does not add any textures of its own! It will do nothing alone. It must be paired with a resource pack designed to use Emissive Dragons. It was created for Tabla's Dragon Retextures, but I encourage other resource pack artists to make their own!
The mod may be toggled entirely in config. If you want a dragon to be unaffected, use the /tag command to give it the "emissive_dragons_ignore" tag. To restore its glow, give it the "emissive_dragons_dont_ignore" tag.
The mod theoretically should work if you only have it installed on the client (except for toggling individual dragons' glow, that requires the server), but I recommend having it on the server too just to be safe.
File structure:
- resources
- assets
- emissive_dragons
- textures
- models
- firedragon
- red_1_eyes.png
- (Optional) red_1_eyes_female.png
- red_1_male_glow.png
- (Optional) red_1_male_glow_sleep.png
- (Optional) red_1_female_glow.png
- (Optional) red_1_female_glow_sleep.png
- ... repeat for red_2 through red_5
- ... repeat for other fire dragon variants
- ...repeat for icedragon and lightningdragon
"Eyes" textures disappear whenever the dragon closes its eyes, including blinking. If present, they override and replace the dragon's usual Eyes texture! In Community Edition, they also only affect the dragon's head and neck. If you want different eye glows for female dragons, add a female variant eyes texture and make sure "different female eye glow textures" is turned on in the config; otherwise they use the same texture as the males.
"Glow" textures apply across the whole body. If a "glow_sleep" texture is provided and "different sleeping textures" is turned on in the config file, the dragon will use that texture while asleep. Similarly, if a "female" texture is provided and "different female textures" is turned on in the config file, female dragons will use that file.
If no sleeping glow texture is provided, the mod will default to the regular glow; if no female glow is provided it will default to the male. This allows you to not make separate files for all the different states if you don't want them to be different. If you want, for example, sleeping male dragons to not glow at all, then add an empty "[]_male_glow_sleep.png" file. (If you just don't add a texture, it'll use the "[]_male_glow.png" one.)
If using Ice & Fire Community Edition, make sure to call the purple lightning dragon variant 'amethyst', while regular Ice & Fire calls them 'amythest'!
