Description
IFC Integrations / MCA Compatibility Patch
A small NeoForge compatibility patch that fixes crashes caused by IFC Integrations calling outdated APIs from Minecraft Comes Alive (MCA) and Ice and Fire: Community Edition. No gameplay changes — this mod exists purely to stop crashes on modern versions of MCA and IaF:CE.
What it fixes
IFC Integrations v4.0.x was compiled against older versions of MCA's trait system and Ice and Fire's particle registry. Since then, both mods have changed their internal APIs:
- MCA's
Traitssystem moved from a Javaenumto a registry-based system, breaking IFC Integrations' oldTraits.registerTrait(...)andTraits.Trait.valueOf(...)calls. - Ice and Fire: Community Edition migrated its particle registry from Architectury's
RegistrySupplierto NeoForge's nativeDeferredHolder, breaking IFC Integrations' reference to the Hamadryad's pixie dust particle.
Without this patch, affected worlds crash on:
- IFC Integrations mod construction (
NoSuchMethodError: Traits.registerTrait) - Goblin, Beast Man, and other IFC Integrations entities spawning or ticking (
NoSuchMethodError: Traits.Trait.valueOf) - Hamadryad entities ticking (
NoSuchFieldError: IafParticles.PIXIE_DUST)
This patch uses Mixin to bridge the old calls onto the current MCA/Ice and Fire APIs, restoring the intended behavior (traits register correctly, pixie dust particles render correctly) rather than just suppressing the crash.
Requirements
- NeoForge 1.21.1
- Minecraft Comes Alive (MCA) — recent versions with the registry-based trait system
- Ice and Fire: Community Edition
- IFC Integrations
Installation
Drop the jar in your mods folder alongside MCA, Ice and Fire: Community Edition, and IFC Integrations. No configuration needed.
Compatibility notes
This is a narrowly-targeted patch — it only intercepts the specific stale API calls listed above. It doesn't modify MCA, Ice and Fire, or IFC Integrations in any other way, and shouldn't conflict with other mods.
If IFC Integrations is updated with an official fix for these issues in the future, this patch becomes unnecessary and can be safely removed.
Known limitations
This patch was built by identifying crashes as they occurred during normal play rather than a full static analysis of IFC Integrations' code, so it's possible (though unlikely at this point) that other entities or code paths in IFC Integrations still call the same outdated APIs in places not yet encountered. If you hit a similar crash (NoSuchMethodError involving Traits, or NoSuchFieldError involving IafParticles) with this patch installed, please report it with the full crash log.

Built as a personal compatibility fix; not affiliated with the MCA, Ice and Fire, or IFC Integrations teams.
